Crossing the Line

Vision Quest Press seeks submissions for Crossing the Line, a Multi Media '/' crossover zine.

I've been trying to get this zine filled for more than a year now. This is the last attempt.

Crossovers are a part of fan fiction; however, you seldom see them in zines. This zine is especially for crossovers, any series, any pairing.

Deadline: No deadline, will publish whenever it's filled.

Submission guidelines:

Story length: no limits. The whole zine will be a minimum of a 100 pages and a maximum of 200. Stories that exceed a hundred pages will be considered for publishing as a stand alone novel.

Story ratings: Anything from G to NC-17

Poetry: Of course I accept poetry too.

Artwork: Yes please. Zines look so much nicer with artwork.

Stories, poetry and artwork can be send by e-mail, either as an attachment (preferred) or pasted to a mail, disk or hardcopy. Stories and poetry in Word (6.0 and up), WP or Works. If you send a disk, please include hardcopy.

Artwork can be send in any format. (preferably in JPEG or GIF).

Any submission will get you a free copy of the zine.

Notes: For the Quantum Leap zine: I am not too keen on very violent stories. For the other zines I cannot set this guideline, since these might include series that are violent in themselves, but don't overdo it please.

Quantum Instability 8: Risky Business

1) Each story has to begin the same way.

2) Your story should have it's own title; it does not have to be called "Risky Business."

3) There is no restriction on story length or content, but do try to keep our Sam and Al "in character."

4) Have fun with it! Let your imagination be your guide!

5) As always, each contributing writer gets a free 'trib copy.

The opening and guidelines are also posted at www.closetspaceltd.com. The deadlines for submissions is April 15, 2002.

Questions? Feel free to e-mail me at csltd@starpower.net.

Thank you,

Quantum Instability #8 "Risky Business"

This was not a plan. This was an impulse.

I hadn't stopped to think; I didn't dare. I simply moved and kept moving until I reached my destination. It was only after I arrived that I realized how hasty and thoughtless I might have been.

I drew back to collect myself and found that I was shaking and damp all over. I glanced around, praying that he wouldn't be there and begging for his presence.

But he was there, just like I knew he would be. And the reality of him far exceeded my expectations. More vibrant in flesh than in fantasy, more vivid than any imaginings, he took my breath away.

I closed my eyes and swallowed.

He was so close. It wouldn't take much to get his attention, just a gesture or a slightly raised voice. The temptation was so great, but the risk was even greater. One poorly chosen word, one misstep, and I could change so much. I could ruin everything.

I exhaled and a shudder ran through me.

It wasn't too late. I hadn't been noticed, I hadn't done anything. I could play it safe, play it sane, and Time would march on like a dutiful soldier.

I told myself to get out of there, but I couldn't move.

The clock was ticking, and I knew this moment was all I had. When would an opportunity like this present itself again? When would we ever be in this time, in this place?

I took another deep breath and . . . (writer may delete ellipsis)
