It's funny how things happen when you least expect it. I was living in a small town in Kansas
with my 3 children, Nick, Misty and Cassie. We did ok on our own. On any given day you
could find any number of kids in your yard, if you knew them or not. anyway, one afternoon
i had let my two older kids go outside to play. There were two little boys that appeared after
a short time. These to little boys appeared in my yard several times after that, only to be
escorted home in a hurry. (Mamma didn't know they had left their yard LOL) Their mom had
come by one day looking for her boys again. We had sat and talked that time for quite a
while. We became good friends over the next few weeks. She had mentioned that her
brother had recently gotten out of a bad marriage and was down and lonely for adult
conversation, so...................I invited him and his 3 kids, my friend, her hubby and 3 kids
over for dinner and a movie. The night went very well, once we got Kenny to stop staring at
the floor. It was only 14 weeks after that first night that we were married. November 6,
1998. It was July 25th when we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. 4 1/2 weeks early,
not breathing, and so little. She spent only 11 days in NICU before we took her home. She is
a bundle of energy now. You'd never know she was so sick. That is how we came together.
Some say we are crazy, some say they admire us. I say we are blessed.
