WHERE WOULD I BE

When I was only seven years old and got my first guitar,
It was an old Sears Silvertone I was gonna be a star;
With a song in my heart and a star in my eye,
That's when I thought I had my future planned out for life.

Years went passing by, I got myself a band,
Playing all the honky-tonks here in this land;
Then one night while all alone a thought came to my mind,
If tomorrow never comes and the morning sun don't shine.

I thought where would I be, where would I go,
If the Lord above would call me home?
Where would I be, what would I say,
If the trumpet sound in Heaven and Jesus came today?

Then one night in desperation I got down on my knees,
I cried out to Jesus and He heard my plea;
Ever since that night I've never been the same,
I have a brand new life since Jesus wrote down my name.

Now I know where I'll be, I know where I'll go,
If the Lord above will call me home;
I know where I'll be, I know what I'll say,
If the trumpet sound in Heaven and Jesus came today.
