The Dreamer
I look through my veil of sleep,
Wipe away the dust of time,
Soft illusions that I keep,
Places I've long left behind.
I'll keep dreaming till the end,
Till the finish line I spy,
Try and fail to pretend,
But no longer can I lie.
Live a life I cannot lead,
Don't disappoint yourself, believe,
Peace and freedom, all I need,
But myself I can't deceive.
Wind that whispers in my hair,
I hide away until the light,
But I can't deny despair
In my own eternal night.
