Jeff walks back upstairs after another day of hard work. His heart is still heavy because he misses her. She left so suddenly after graduation. But he knew she needed to spread her wings. She was like him: not the type to be tied down. He just hoped she was okay.
Once in his room, he sees a package, with no return address on it, on his bed. After debating on whether to open it or not, he reaches for the package and opens it. Inside, he finds a letter, a Creed CD, and a photo album.
He opens the letter and begins to read it:
To my other half –
Well, I have reached my destination. And, no, I have not enclosed any 411 on
where that may be. In time, love.
However, I will tell you, I am very happy. I have finally figured out what I want to do with my life.
I want to send some lyrics your way:
Hurray for a child
That makes it through
If there’s any way
Because the answer lies in you
They’re laid to rest
Before they know just what to do
Their souls are lost
Because they could never find
What’s this life for
I see your soul; it’s kind of gray
You see my heart; you look away
You see my wrists; I know you pain
I know your purpose on your plane
Don’t say a last prayer
Because you could never find
What’s this life for
But they ain’t here anymore
Don’t have to settle the score
Cause we all live
Under the reign of one king
I got you the CD. The song is number 9. The CD’s pretty good. I really like Creed. They sound kind of like Pearl Jam.
Well, I have to go. Work to do. I’ll send some mail you way soon.
Love always,
Angelique
Jeff put the CD in his player and set repeat on number nine. Then he began to look at the album. The album was filled with pictures of before she left.
Jeff could still remember those times.
To be continued....
