For Those Of You With The Benefit of Flash

This is set WAAAY in the future. Both Christian and Edge have since started families and Christian & Edge's daughters have decided to follow in their father's footsteps. (I'll call them Debbie (Christian's daughter) and Trisha (Edge's Daughter) ;) The girls have been conspiring for a couple years, saving up their generous allowences, and even working odd jobs while their dads were on tour to put them through wrestling school. A new Florida promoter/trainer, Darrell Roguelin started his own fed just for teens, in an effort to help train them properly and keep down the amount of injuries and deaths to teens trying wrestling moves on their own. Trish and Deb joined up in one of his schools and really worked hard. Finally the Big Day came. Under management of Debbie's 15 yr old cousin, Maureen (who lives next door to her, Trish living across the street from them) they put together a decent promo, special for their dads. And a great match as well with two other girls (who were big Lita fans, two redhead sisters)...
[Trish's upstairs bedroom, Saturday afternoon]
Three sweaty girls, one redhead and two blondes flomp in through the bedroom window. Trish fans herself with her hand, and had a painful look on her face. 'It's too hot' she mouths the words. Deb's own blonde hair was matted down and wet like Trish's, making them look more like sisters than just best friends. Deb flopped down on the bed and Maureen shut the window while Trish turned on the air. Deb sprung right back up as the other two flopped on the bed.
"Ok." Maureen began, "Now, we got to figure out how to get your dads to the show without telling them what it is."
"Yeah, but..." Deb started in. "The tickets will say..."
Trish then waved her hand to cut her off. "No! No, wait! I have a better idea! Why not just let them in?" She shrugged in question.
"Well, they have to like have tickets, right? How will they know who they are?" Deb reasoned.
"DUHHH!" Maureen said loudly, causing all the girls to start laughing.
"Ok." Deb started, "So I go to my parents and say 'Hey, go to this place, because I'm in this thing and the folks at the door will let you in.' Yeah. Right. TAAA-CKEEEE!!!"
The girls all giggled again. "No. I think we should... Hmmm..." Deb tried to think.
All the girls sat silent for a few moments, looking at each other. Then Trish said "Wait. Maureen's parents know and are in on the secret. They can just bring them along. And we can insist they go. Right?"
Deb shrugged. "Ok. I guess it'll work. I can tell my Mom anyway and have her not tell Dad what it is, just make sure he goes."
Trish nodded. "I can do the same with my Mom."
Deb then jumped off the bed. "Ok, lets go do it. Trish, I'll call you when I'm done."
Trish then responded, opening her bedroom door for the two cousins, "Ok. Talk to ya soon!"
[Deb's house]
Maureen went home and Deb located her mother in the basement doing the laundry.
"Oh. Deb. Good. Get your stuff because I want to wash right now."
The 14-yr. old sighed and marched back up stairs, nearly stepping on Pookie, their white cat, and got her laundry. She heard noises in the kitchen and was afraid it was her dad, but a quick peek revealed it was only her 17 yr. old brother, Christian, looking in the fridge for a snack. "Oh, Hi Chris."
"Yeah. Hey, where's the rest of the fruit and jello?"
"Uhm. I think Dad finished it off last night during the Hockey game."
"Shit. Ok." With that Christian pulled out a loaf of bread, some beef and ham cold cuts, cheese, mustard, etc. and proceeded to make himself a huge sandwich. Deb only watched a moment and was just about to drop the basket and join him when she heard her mother yell out her name.
"I need to get this load started! Will you get down here?!"
Deb sighed and decided to hurry up. She didn't want her mom in a bad mood when she had to tell her the news. She got downstairs to the well-lit laundry area and said "Sorry mom. Chris started making a sandwich and I got hungry." Deb then proceeded to help her mom with the laundry, which was a dead giveaway that she wanted something.
"Ok, Debbie" her mom relented, realizing it was nearly impossible to do the wash herself with the teenager constantly shoveling their laundry in the machine. "What is it you want?"
"Uh... Huh? Well. Ok. But you have to promise not to tell anyone. It's a special secret for..." Then Deb looked around to see if they were alone. They weren't. Her dad was just coming off the treadmill in the workout room behind some glass doors. All Deb could see was his well-muscled back and long, blonde and wet ponytail as he bent over to pick up a towel and a bottle of water. Deb leaned over to her mom and wispered, "It's a surprise for dad that me and my friends are working on."
Deb's mom gave her a suspiscious look. "Oh? And what is that?"
"Well, just don't tell him. But you HAVE to MAKE him go a week from Today. I'll give you the address to the place. It's small and only our friends and families will be there, but it'll be taped and..." Deb noticed her voice getting a bit louder as she got more and more excited. She jumped when she heard the glass doors slide as her dad walked out in just gym shorts and sneakers with a towel around his neck and still holding the bottle of water.
"What's being taped?" He asked, then taking a sip of water.
She shot her mother a startled look. "Oh nothing!" She said and Deb quickly made a bee-line up the stairs and into her room.
"What was THAT all about?" Jay asked his wife.
She only smiled. "I have no idea, but Debbie says you absoulutely HAVE to go see her and her friends next weekend."
"Really? Why?"
"I don't know. Ask her."
Jay easily went upstairs and stood in Debbie's doorway, watching his daughter sift through her closet for a moment. As he watched, he noticed she looked more filled out than he remembered. Though he does get to see her several times a week now that he wasn't wrestling as much as he used to, he still wondered how she got so built up. He had suspected someone was using the workout equipment, but that didn't bother him much. He waited for Deb to turn around and notice him.
Deb's heart nearly stopped in startlement as she noticed her dad silently staring at her in the doorway. "Uh, did I do something wrong?" She inquired.
"I don't know. You tell me. What's this about some thing your friends are working on next weekend?" He asked.
Deb thought for sure her heart stopped. 'Oh shit.' she thought to herself. She looked at her window, the one side of which was mostly used as a door by her, Trish and Maureen. She wanted to bail out and go tell Trish what was happening. Then she stared at her cordless phone for a moment, debating whether she should call. She felt her Dad walk to the bed and sit next to her.
"Deb?"
"Uh..." Deb fumbled. "Well...." Deb had to think quickly. Things were not going quite as planned. "Ok. Well, see we were working on something and just for like friends and family. Sort of a summer project type thing and..." Deb said staring down at the floor. She felt her dad's hand under her chin, moving her head to face him. She froze.
"And?" Jay asked his daughter, knowing full well she was nervous about something.
"Well..." Deb looked down at the floor again as she felt his hand let go of her, but she knew he was looking at her, purposely trying to look her in the eyes. She hated that, but yet, she also started to liked it for some reason. She shook herself mentally and said "If I tell you, they'll kill me because it's supposed to be a surprise. But I'll give Mom the address and stuff. So, would you be there?" Deb then looked expectantly at her dad. "Please? We worked for a long time on this."
Jay smiled. "Ok. I'll see what you're up to." He patted Deb on the knee, got up and left the room. Deb let out a long breath and flopped on her bed a moment. Then she closed her closet door after pushing her gym bag further in. She had been emptying it. Then she opened it again realizing that the stuff needed washing. She grabbed her phone and called Trish while she flew downstairs to get the stuff in the wash. Trish answered when Deb got back to her room. "What took you so long."
"I was in the bathroom. Why?"
"I had to tell dad."
"WHAT!!!! OH MY GOD! YOU DIDN'T!!!" Trish screeched on the other end of the line.
"NO! No. I didn't." Deb said, then with her remote turned on her stereo and some old heavy metal started blaring louder than she'd liked. She turned the volume down and shut her door. "I just told him it was a project and I couldn't tell him what because it was a surprise. He said he'd go." She heard Trish sigh in relief. "So how'd you do?"
"Fine. Better than YOU!" Trish said with mock sarcasm. "I told my Mom and she was thrilled, but I had to tell her to keep it secret. She told dad to be there and I'm not sure if he caught on because of the look on her face or what, but he looked at me and said 'Yeah, sure. I guess I better be there for my daughter's big day, huh?' and had that look on his face."
"That evil grin."
"Yeah."
"The one you give me when you're up to no good."
"That's the one." Trish giggled.
"Ok." Deb said. "I guess it's all set."
*****
Nearly a week goes by and Deb hadn't seen her dad since Sunday night. It's nearly 10:00 am Friday Morning, and hazy. Deb was just about to pop out of her bedroom window to meet with Trish and Maureen for training when she noticed her mom's car pull in with her dad in the passenger seat. She waited and saw them get out. He got his gear bags out of the trunk and rolled them up to the door while her mom let them in. He looked very tired. 'Oh great.' She thought to herself. 'Watch he won't be able to make it.' Deb became worried but as soon as she heard them walk past her door, and heard her dad say "Ok, hon, thanks. I'm going to get a shower and crash for awhile." Deb then popped out her window and ran up the street where two 15-yr. old girls were waiting.
"I think dad won't make it!" Deb breathed in disappointment as she adjusted her gym bag and started walking to catch her breath.
"Why?" Maureen asked.
"Well," Deb panted briefly, "he just got home from the road and he looked very tired."
"Doesn't he always?" her redhead cousin tried to reassure her it was normal.
"Yeah. I mean, my dad looked that way last night too, when he got home. But he still will go. I know it." Trish said. "Don't worry about it. We have to concentrate on our match!" Trish said excitedly with an evil up-to-no-good smile on her face which made Debbie smile too.
Deb was quite excited about the whole thing and it was being taped too. So even if he didn't see it that time, he'd get to see it on tape, at very least. But her smile faded as she concentrated on the rest of the short walk to the bus stop. It just wouldn't be the same as if he was actually in the audience. Deb took in a breath as she boarded the bus for the city with her comrades and sat down next to a few others going to the same wrestling school. Soon she was in chit-chat about details of the match and promo they were going to do. Still her mind was on her dad the whole time, and how much she missed him. How much she longed to make him very proud of her. She wondered what his reaction would be when he saw her in the ring. She smiled a moment thinking about it.

[Saturday Morning 6:00 am]
The phone rang. It was Trish. The sun was now peeking out and Debbie knew this was it. "Thanks for the butterflies Trish. Now how about throwing me a net!" Deb said in mock sarcasm over the phone. Trish laughed with Deb a moment and they hung up and showered. Deb pulled on some black gym shorts with 3 white stripes on the sides, a grey muscle shirt which was really a t-shirt with the sleeves cut off, white socks and some black and white gym shoes. She didn't dry her hair since it'd probably be pretty well dry by the time she got to the gym for practice. They also had to have a meeting and then another one with Maureen. She'd be quite busy before the 3:00 pm show. Debbie felt herself getting quite excited and very nervous. Just as she grabbed her gym bag, a black one her dad gave her for Jr. high school gym class with the WWF logo on it, she almost bumped into him in her doorway. "Oh! Uh... where's mom?"
"She's still sleeping." Her dad informed her. Deb looked at her watch. 7:00. "Oh. Uhm..." She slipped past her dad. She was to be at practice at 8:00 in the gym where they were going to be performing. She went to the kitchen and grabbed a small carton of 2% milk and a chocolate breakfast bar, and headed to the front door, figuring she'll probably get a ride with Trish and Allanah, Trish's mom, but her dad stepped ahead of her and was out the door first. She gave him a puzzled look.
"So," Jay went on to explain to his daughter, "I'll be taking you in. Your mom gave me the address."
Deb nearly lost her milk. "UGHRM...!" (cough) Ok. (choke-cough).
Jay smiled at his daughters surprise. "Hope there's nothing wrong with that?"
"Oh no!" Deb said, "No, not at all..." She then made way to his jeep and got in the back seat.
Deb was quiet the whole time, finishing up her breakfast. But looking up into the rear view mirror in the front she could see her dad had cracked a slight smirk. Butterflies welled up inside her as she had a funny feeling... he knew. Did mom tell him? Did he figure it out himself? Does he know the gym? But she rationalized that the gym housed gymnastics, wrestling, 4 forms of martial arts, swimming, volleyball, and a ton of other things besides a full fitness center and physical therapy clinic. They also had two arenas for events. She could have been there for anything, really. They got there about 10 minutes before time and Deb raced to the locker room to change, where she met up with Trish and Maureen who gave her very questioning looks.
"What is your dad doing here!!??" The other two teens said in surprised unison.
"I don't know... he just took me here. I didn't have a chance to argue because he just went to the jeep. Mom wasn't awake yet."
Trish looked upward. "Oh no...." she said.
Maureen was thinking the same thing. "He better not watch!" Since Maureen was their manager and not needed in gear, she was still in her normal clothes and the only of the three who had time to bolt out of the women's locker room and to the front desk, where she found Darrell Roguelin talking to someone she didn't recongnize, but then realized it was a cameraman, by the gear he had next to him. "uh... Darrell?" Maureen said.
Darrell, a tall, long-haired blonde guy in gold framed glasses and a black sweatsuit with the Roguelin Wrestling School logo badge on the front, turned to look at Maureen. He was always a relaxed and calm man, even in the ring. He didn't train Trish and Deb, though. His associate, Ricky Martinez did. The kids were all on first-name basis with the trainers, and the atmosphere was always fun and relaxed. But Maureen felt none of this at the moment and her anxiety started to show.
"What's up, Maureen? Everything ok?"
"Uh. no." Maureen said. "Deb's dad insisted on bringing her to practice and..." Maureen breathed excitedly.
Darrell smiled and waved his hand to stop her. "It's ok. We don't allow anyone but the wrestlers, trainers and staff in before the show. He'll be asked to wait in the lobby if he gets in too far."
Maureen smiled in relief. "Thanks!" And before Darrell could say "Anytime." Maureen had bolted back into the locker room to reassure the other teen girls that their secret was still safe. For the moment.
*****
Deb got home around 11 in the morning, and already Trish and Maureen were waiting outside her window as she got out of her dad's jeep. Jay walked past and offered to take Deb's gym bag in but she refused, saying she can get it. Deb watched her dad go into the house and then popped her window open to allow them to slip inside.
For nearly an hour until lunch the girls talked quietly about the match while listening to some music. At one point at the start of their little meeting, Trish lightly hit Deb in the arm and said "See? And you were worried your dad wouldn't make it. Turned out your mom crashed!" Deb smiled and realized Trish was right, since he was up and ready to go when she was.
Deb thought about her dad while waiting for lunch, which her brother, Christian prepared on the grill, since he had a "craving" for some grilled chicken. That's about all he made, and her mom did the rest of the work. Deb rested on the couch, but said nothing to her dad who was watching some taped reruns of "Friends" - an old and long-since cancelled show he pulled out of their large video library. Deb found nothing interesting in it, but just stared at the TV in thought until Chris knocked her in the arm. "C'Mon. Let's eat."
Jay was up before his daughter and halfway to the kitchen table. Deb plunked herself down between him and her mother, as usual, with Chris across from her. She dug into the food thoughtfully. Chris knew what was going on but was sworn to secrecy. He was in the wrestling school too but wasn't fighting that day because he had a strained arm muscle from practice. They all knew Chris was wrestling. In fact, in the living room after lunch, Jay asked Chris about his arm. "Still hurts." Chris said. Jay then checked over his son's arm and worked on it some for him. Deb didn't allow her to watch her dad's gentle and careful administrations on her brother's arm. She had too many butterflies flying around just thinking about what his reaction will be to her wrestling. She still had a funny feeling he knew. Jay didn't realize Deb left the living room.
Deb resolved to get some rest and a shower again before getting her gear bag together for the show. Her mom walked in when she was putting her boots in her bag. "We're ready to go, sweetie." her mom said.
"Uh. Mom?" Deb whispered anxiously. "Does dad know? I mean..."
Her mom shook her head and smiled. Something about that smile still didn't reassure Deb much. She sighed and followed her family out to the jeep, where they piled in.

[Pre-Show at the arena]
Deb was nervous as she geared up in the locker room and they were checked out. Just while they were waiting near the small arena, Trish asked Deb, "Now, you remembered your lines, right?"
"Uh...." Deb said, straining to remember. She felt a nest of butterflies erupt as she relized she can't remember a thing! "Oh God, I'm so nervous!"
"C'Mon Deb!!! You've GOT to do this!" Trish said, shaking her. "Stay with me on this! We can do it! Remember... remember why we are doing this! When they see us, they'll piss themselves laughing! It's gonna be great!"
And Maureen chimed in with more of the pep talk... "And you guys will be the first tag team champions! And think how proud your dads will be!"
"Yeah!!" Trish said very excitedly.
This only made Deb more nervous but she started to sputter the first words of the opening of their promo, much to the relief of her cousin and best friend.
"Just relax," Deb heard Darrell's calm voice from behind her, and instantly afterwards his hand lightly squeezing her shoulder. "You girls will do just fine."
The girls could just see into the arena and the crowd had already filed in. Not many, maybe 300 or 400 of the wrestling school student's friends, family and a few others. She saw two cameramen, one on either side of the arena near the ring, and the announcer's table. She searched for her family. "You see my dad anywhere, Trish?"
"No, but I think I see Chris, and Todd... Yeah, my brother is just over... wait.. no, that's not him." Trish said, straining to see.
A moment later Maureen whispered excitedly, "There's Glenda!" she said pointing slightly where the girls saw her little sister's red head pop up suddenly near the front row on one side of the ring. Deb got excited as she followed and saw her aunt and uncle right nearby.
Trish then pointed, "There's my Dad! He's talking to your dad!"
Sure enough. Deb found her family. Christian was just coming down carefully with 3 drinks in his hands for himself and his parents. She noticed him sit down in front of them and hand up the sodas. Chris then took Glenda and held onto her so she wouldn't get into trouble, giving her a sip of his soda while he turned to talk to Todd, Trish's older brother nearby. Deb strained to see her dad. She could barely see them with all the other folks there but it wasn't that the 500-people capacity arena as full, it was the position of them by the ring and other stuff in the way. But they were not far from the front, maybe 4 or 5 rows up the bleechers. If it wasn't for the ropes... Deb tried to see the expression on her dad's face but couldn't make it out much. She felt a push behind her slightly as another of the wrestlers said "Excuse me." They stepped aside to let the two older boys through for their match. The lights dimmed and other spotlights went on around the ring. She saw Darrell come into the ring to start the show. She could no longer make out the faces of her family. This was it. The show started with the two older boys in a singles match.
Two more matches and it was their turn. The redheads were in back of them talking excitedly and going over what they were supposed to do. Deb was glad because they helped her remember or her mind would be a blank. "Don't worry. I'll drop hints during the match, ok, Deb?" The older redhead said. To which Deb said "Ok, thanks!" And Trish interjected she'd help out too. Maureen tried to calm everyone, trying to play up her manager role. She got into position in front of Deb and Trish while Darrell announced them by their real names. Maureen went first, proudly flaunting her way to the ring. Deb tried not to act as nervous as she was while Trish was all smiles and obviously enjoying herself. Deb felt a bit uncomfortable. Earlier she told Trish she has no idea how she'll wrestle with a perpetual wedgie, which is what her string bikini underwear felt like under her tights.
Deb didn't want to think about the fact her dad was watching. They were positioned in the ring so they were in front of their families. After the intro music, Maureen slid out of the ring after blowing kisses to her family and the crowd. She then popped in and set up a 6' steel ladder that looked to be a bit padded on the sides and top. Deb took the mic. She had to go first. With a breath she noticed Trish smile at her expectantly. Deb brought the mic to her mouth, the crowd nothing but a blur to her right now under the bright lights over the ring. "As you can tell, Trish and I are big fans of Edge & Christian." Deb started, then patted the ladder. "So we decided to come out here and pay a tribute to our heroes." Deb breathed a sigh of relief, now that she had done her part, and felt she done it very well.
Trish took the mic excitedly and with a smile that only a true Copeland could do, she told everyone "So..." and a brief pause. Then she said quickly "For those of you with the benefit of flash photographayeeeee!!!" Letting the last sylable go on slightly in an almost venomous tone. She stopped to drink in the crowd's reaction while Deb busted up laughing.
Deb could then see dimly that Trish's dad was in surprised laughter, but before she could set eyes on her own father, Trish started in again, sounding very much like a ring announcer at a circus. "We have a special tribute pose, for TWO SECONDS ONLEEE!!" Trish put the mic down and turned to Deb briefly. "Ready?" She said quietly. Deb nodded. Deb really didn't even stop to think about what exactly she was doing. Together, Trish and Deb turned thier backs to the part of the crowd their families were sitting at and pulled their tights down past their butts, exposing bare bottoms. They bent over slightly and shook them a bit for about a second and then popped back up, pulling their tights on, and quickly slid under the ropes and out of the ring. By now, Deb forgot all about her nervousness and was laughing hard, because of the way Trish was laughing. Deb turned to look and saw her dad was laughing and looking quite surprised, almost shocked! She saw her brother laughing and dutifully covering his little cousin Glenda's eyes. Just then the girls bumped into the redheads and turned quickly back towards the ring, running with outstretched arms in mock surprise. They were hauled into the ring and the match started.
Deb didn't have time to get nervous. It was an even flow of the routine, with the older redhead calling the match while they were in the ring. Deb sometimes had to strain to hear her. But it didn't matter if she missed a call because by now, Deb knew the routine and was starting to get comfortable. Deb and Trish executed their spots and each move made Deb more excited and eager to show off all she could do. She took a couple falls, and nearly touched the tag belts hanging on a hook above the ladders, which actually they almost touched the ladder. The ladder never moved much, except when it accidentally fell. The girls just compensated and filled in for it. Deb felt proud that everyone glued so well. She briefly saw Trish smile. Deb felt like a pro and pride welled up inside her as did the adrenaline. She felt like she was invincible. Even the pain of each fall felt good! It made her feel powerful, in control of her body, stronger than anyone in the arena! Each of the girls absorbed this energy and it was obvious that they were all very pumped up the more the match went on. Trish did what she called a Thunderbolt, her "finisher" which was a modified spear, knocking one of the opponents into the ladder, which fell onto the ropes. The other redhead righted it and started to climb. Trish and the girl's sister were laying on the mat, catching their breaths while Deb climbed up behind the other redhead. She got one rung behind her and the girl turned to try and punch Deb. Deb stepped onto the same rung with her. Not much room she adjusted between that and the next one down, maneuvering carefully to prepare for her dad’s old ‘impaler’ move off the ladder! Just when they were locked, and the mat was clear beneath them, Deb thought she heard her dad yell "DEB! NO!!!" This only supercharged the young teen girl into doing the move. Deb managed to do it perfectly, too. The other redhead bouncing off the mat as planned, and rolling out of the ring to flop on the floor motionless but in reality unharmed except for a very sore nose. Deb was at first worried she broke it but managed to catch a glimpse of her on the floor and saw she was ok. Deb climbed the ladder and grabbed for the belts. She expectedly felt the ladder get taken out from under her. She hung there with one hand and undone the belts with the other. She carefully planned so one would drop on the head of the older redhead, who knew when to put her arms up while walking under and near Deb. The girl fell and laid still. Trish got on the top of the ropes and waited for Deb to unhook the other belt, then lept as high as she could. She didn't get as high as she had the other times and Deb could tell the Spear off the hooks wasn't going just right. Trish still played it up and the girls landed safely not far from the other redhead, who had conveniently moved the other belt aside. Trish rolled over and grabbed the other belt as the bell rang ending the match. Deb let herself lay there until the ref came over to them. She let Trish pick her up and their hands were raised in victory, which Deb managed to painfully raise the other one with the belt as did Trish. Both girls smiling proudly. They hugged briefly in the ring and slid out of the ring, holding each other up breathlessly.
"Did... " (gasp) "Did you see..." (gasp) "the look on my..." (gasp, pant) "dad's face?" Deb tried to say, as she looked back but couldn't see her family.
"No..." Trish said breathlessly, "But..." (gasp), "Did you hear..." (cough) "the crowd?!!" Trish was obviously overjoyed by the reaction their match brought.
They got to the locker room area and slid down the wall in the hallway outside the door, sweaty, wet and very high on adrenaline. The two redheads also slid in and flopped down beside them. Nobody spoke for a long time. The only sound was that of the crowd, Darrell announcing the next match, and the heavy breathing of four very exhausted teen girls.
At first Deb really didn't notice the pain too much except if she went to move her right arm, her shoulder ached a bit. She remembered landing on it wrong at one point. Even though the ladder had some padding and the mat was more padded than a professional wrestling ring, the girls still felt the effects of their performance. Deb just sat there with the tag title belt beside her and closed her eyes. She remembered the morning before how tired her dad had looked when her mom brought him home from the airport. Deb remembered how some days she'd want to give her dad a hug and he'd say "Sorry, sweetums, not right now... maybe later." in a rather weary voice, gently pushing her aside and giving her a quick kiss on her golden blonde head. She remembered he was up and ready to take her to practice that morning while her mom slept. Deb felt a renewed respect for her dad. She felt bad too, that he'd hurt so much. She got the idea after awhile that he would be tired after wrestling but had no idea until now just what it really felt like. Deb started to feel a bonding of sorts with him, an understanding. A feeling she always longed to have, one of closeness and love. She always loved and respected her dad but now even more so. She felt a new kind of feeling well up inside her as she thought of this, and of how he would know that she knew. Deb knew they shared a feeling, not one of pain but one of understanding. Deb was shook out of her newfound bliss by a familiar voice...
"You girls did a wonderful job!" It was Darrell. "Exceptional. As far as I'm concerned, all of you girls are champions." Darrell said with a calm seriousness that seemed to rejuvenate the teen girls into standing up once again, and hugging each other in victory. He smiled. It was great to see the kids learn good sportsmanship. Trish turned to Darrell and said "We couldn't have done it without them." Thumbing to the redhead sisters.
"We were honored! Even though we lost, it was still great!" The older redhead said. All the girls were elated. The two redheads tromped off to find their families while Trish and Deb started down the hall.
They didn't get far before they found their families waiting. Deb immediately ran into her father's waiting arms. It hurt when he hugged her but she didn't want to leave him. "Dad!" she breathed. "I did it!! We did it!!"
Jay was all proud smiles as he embraced his daughter. He was careful though as he knew all too well she'd have to be in some real pain right now. "Yeah. That was great, Deb!" He then released her and took her face in his hands. "You were wonderful." He said with a warm smile and kissed her on the forehead. Deb hugged him again and told him she wanted him to be proud of her. He was. Jay reassured her he was VERY proud of her and that she did a great job. Deb also hugged her mom and brother, and anyone else that wanted one. Her pain was pushed back now to allow for some gloating with Trish, who looked at her with one of her Copeland-esque smiles. She was up to something again. And Deb found out what when Trish's mother pulled out a camera to get a picture of the Tag Team Champions with their fathers. Deb remembered the old videos, looked at Trish and nodded, smiling. She looked up at her dad, who had just undone his ponytail to let his hair fall around his shoulders. Jay smiled down at his daughter. Deb positioned the belt on her good shoulder and Trish did the same, informing her mom to count to three and everyone should smile.
At the count of three, however, the girls quickly jumped up to put hands in front of their dad's faces, and then started laughing over each other. The dads knew what that was about. "Ohhh!"'s and "Aww!"'s were issued just after the jump as they remembered a very long time ago when they pulled much the same prank in a skit on their fans while they were Tag Team Champions themselves. "I see they've been into our video collection." Adam said, laughing. Trish then informed her dad "Wait! There's more!" pointing a finger upwards. Deb always busted up laughing at the way Trish did that.
There was a lot of hugging, kissing, loud talking and excitement before the families made way to the parking lot and the girls got changed and checked out. Jay was informed that his daughter suffered a strained shoulder while Adam heard of his daughter's strained leg muscle. But nobody was seriously injured, thankfully. Just very happy and a bit sore.

[Late Sunday Morning, Deb's house]
It was nearly noon. Deb didn't realize it until she looked at the clock. She also noticed that someone was gently massaging her sore shoulder. She tried to get up but other parts started to hurt, causing her to yelp, "OW!". She managed to turn on her back with help to see that her dad was the one administering to her. Somehow she felt a tinge of pleasurable nervousness as he warmly smiled down at her, then he said "Morning sweetums" and kissed her on the forehead. She could feel his long blonde hair on her face and arms a bit as he done so. Deb gave him a puppy-dog I-don't-want-to-get-out-of-bed look. Jay had both hands on her sides and was gently messaging her body through her white silk camisole. "I think you should get up and move around. Staying still too long won't help the pain any." Deb wondered if her dad went crazy or something. She could swear she could not move! But she soon felt his strong arms underneath her, gently lifting her to a sitting position. "C'mon. Get up." He said quietly. He helped her stand up. Deb was surprised to find herself starting to hold her own. Jay helped his daughter to her bathroom door. "You going to be ok?" he asked. Deb only nodded and put out a hand to get into the bathroom. She closed the door behind her with her dad's help. She could hear him leave the room as she started up the shower and slip out of her camisole and matching underwear.
Deb let the warmer than usual water stream down her body, thinking about her dad. She began to wake up thinking of how good it felt having him massaging her just moments ago. He had done that before, when she was sick or sometimes even when she was very upset at something. He had a way of calming her. But for some reason, the teen felt a different kind of feeling. One more pleasurable. One she didn't want to go away.
As Debbie dressed she kept thinking about this. She made it to the kitchen table to find that the Sunday Dinner is a picnic outside. Other people were there too, including a very sore and tired looking Trish, Maureen and the two redheads, Glenda, Todd, Chris, and all their parents, among others.
Deb's mom noticed her arrival first. "Well, look who's here! Sleepyhead!" She said rather loudly.
"Oh Mom." Deb said wearily. But before she could plunk herself down on a lawn chair nearby, her dad, who had since tied his hair back again, took Deb's hand and said "And here's my little Tag Team Champion!" with a proud smile, raising Deb's hand in the air in victory. Deb winced, since that was her sore side and wondered if he remembered.
"Uhm... Dad..." She said. Jay put her arm down and quietly asked if she was ok. "Still hurts." She said. She felt her dad rub her back gently and yet with enough force he guided her to a lawn chair more into the yard, where a few others, including Darrell, was sitting. Darrell greeted Deb who nodded. She sat back and listened to the conversations, some of which was her dad and Trish's dad bragging about things they did when they were Tag Team Champions long before Deb was even born. Deb still was in pain and a bit stiff. So the bump on her side startled her even more. It was Christian, with some food. "Thanks, Chris." She said. Her brother nodded and then sat down next to her, eating his own plateful. Her dad and mom went and got some food and Deb watched the people, sometimes talking with Trish. Somehow life was a painful blur right now, yet a comfortable one. As she finished her lunch, she thought to herself; here they were. Wrestling champions. She finally felt up to par with her dad and no longer intimidated by him. Instead, she felt almost one with him. Debbie breathed in this beautiful feeling as she put her plate down for their fuzzy black and white dog, Daisy, to finish off. As she leaned back in the chair, she could see out of the bottom of her sunglasses that her dad noticed her blissful state. Jay smiled warmly and knowingly at her then watched her briefly as he started on his own lunch.
