Descendants of Rudolph Perdschinger
Rudolph Perdschinger lived in Switzerland, had son Hans Heinrick Perdschinger who had a son Heinrick Perdschinger. Heinrich was the father of Jacob who immigrated to the Port of Philadelphia on May 29, 1735, on the ship "Mercury".
Jacob was only about 19 when he came here, perhaps with a group of people he knew? Jacob married Rebecca and had children Abraham, Phillip, (John)Henry, Jacob, Jr., Catherine and Christopher by about 1756 or so, when a War Party of Indians captured Rebecca, Abraham, Phillip and Jacob, Jr.; the first three were never to be seen again. As for Jacob, Jr., there is some difference of opinion as to whether the child later returned was the real Jacob, Jr., but we will not delve into that on this page.
At this time, I believe that all Persingers are descended from this same family, and if you are not, let me know. There is a MyFamily site for Persingers, if you are one, let me know that also! There are many Persinger cousins there, but I have yet to locate any cousins that are from the dual lines of the brothers Jeremiah and William Riley Persinger, as I am.
My great grandparents Ledonia and Newman Persinger were first cousins, once removed. They came to central Ohio from Greenbrier County, West Virginia around 1910. Newman died in Franklin County in 1917, when the barn caught fire and he was trying to get the horses out, and had a heart attack. Ledonia lived until 1948 and died in Morgan County, Ohio
ALL members of this family have always been told that Ledonia was 1/2 Indian, and that her mother, now known to be Sarah Flack, was a full blood Indian. Now that may seem far-fetched to many of you, but if you had known Ledonia and her children, you would, in a minute, believe that that was, indeed, the case! They all were the image of fulll blood Indians, not part! But now in my research I can find no evidence at all of any such blood, and Sarah's mother, Sarah (Sally) Davis is my only remaining clue, but I don't even know who her parents were!
