It was a warm, still night in the month of September,
It was the night I met him, one that I'll always remember.
He had a big, strong presence,
Havin' fun on the dance floor,
Exuding with confidence.
I fell in love with his beauty and grace,
Once he had my heart,
And nobody could ever take his place.
This is the part where they say, "And they live happily ever after," right?
We were supposed to ride off into the sunset and far into the night,
But things change, and people change.
And you ask yourself, how could it be this way?
Once we take two steps forward,
Next time we take three steps back.
There is always something happening that gets us off track.
Is it true when people say that love is bittersweet
I say it's more bitter than sweet,
And bitterness is a dangerous feat.
Love ain't sweet and it ain't all rosy,
It's more than just some feeling that makes you warm and fuzzy.
I love him, but we can't be together,
Because we're both afraid of living happily ever after.
I wanna work toward it,
But at times it's so hard,
Because both of us are too produ to let down our guards.
Love is bittersweet...
Who thought up that word?
That is the sillies piece of sh*t I have ever heard.
Why can't it just be sweet?
I want to be content,
But right now that's not happening,
And all I feel is resent.
I feel resent toward him, toward me and the way things should be.
I wanna grab him in my arms,
And take off into the sunset.
But it's not that easy,
As a matter of fact, it's suspect,
So whomever said that love is bittersweet has definitely felt the pain of the star-crossed lovers' destiny.
So who in the world thinks that love is bittersweet?
If you ask me, love is very bitter,
And love sure as hell ain't sweet.
