WalkThrough

I will have some aids on the Pokémon in certin areas and some hints on where things are and what to do.
When you start your game ( in the gameboy version) red or blue you will get to pick between 3 Pokémon. They are bulbasaur, charmander and squirtle. It dosen't really matter who you pick because they all hav their streanths and weeknesses. Bulbasaur is good at first but is quite slow. Charmander is a ok choice at the start but he can be week. Sqirtle is pretty good really. Bulbasaur is sapposedly the best. It is good against pretty much all the types that are at the beginning...except pidgy but he is pretty gentil. Me myself...I prefer Squirtle.

On route 1 the pokémon you can find are : Pidgey and Rattata. ( you can catch them after you deliver profs parcel and buy pokéballs ) Pidgey is a flying type and it evolves into Pidgeotto then Pidgeot. Rattata is a normal type and evolves into Raticate. Both of these pokémon are found in both versions and there are many of them. This is a short route and it isn't hard.

There are no gym's in Viridian city that you can get into for now but later. Go along to route 2 now. And make your way to Viridain forest.

In this forest you can find 5 pokémon. ( Viridian forest) Caterpie, metapod, weedle, kakuna and Pikachu. Caterpie is a bug type pokémon and evolves into Metapod then Butterfree. Metapod is a bug type and evolves into Butterfree. Weedle is a bug poison type and evolves into Kakuna then Beedrill. Kakuna is a bug poison type and evloves into Beedrill. Pikachu is an electric type pokémon and evloves into Raichu. In the red version there are many Weedles,Kakunas and few of metapods, caterpies and Pikachus. In the blue version there are many Metapods and caterpies but few of Weedles Kakunas and Pikachus.

Once your in Pewter city you can fight Brock , the gym leader. He will have two rock type pokémon. If you picked Squirtle and he knows water moves this will be an easy fight. Brock will have Geodude in level 12 and Onix in level 14. Bulbasaur will also do good especially if it knows Vine Whip. If you have Charmander then don't use him he won't hurt Brocks pokémon. If you have Charmander then Pikachu is your next best bet. Try to get Pikachu in at least level 16 before battling. You will get the Boulderbadge. If you want to get some more pokémon on your pokédex then pay the $ to get into the museum.

After you beat Brock you can move on to route 3. The pokémon that can be found in route 3 are: Spearow, Pidgy and Jigglypuff. Spearow is a normal flying type and evolves into Fearow there are many Spearows in both versions. Jigglypuff is a normal type and evolves into Wigglytuff there is few of it in both versions. There are many Pidgy's here too (in both versions ).

Next you will be in Mt.Moon. The pokémon you can find here are: Zubat,Geodude,Paras and Clefairy. Zubat is a poison flying type and evolves into Goldbat there is many of it in both versions. Geodude is a rock ground type pokémon ang evolves into Gravler then Golem there are few of it in both versions. Paras is a bug Grass type and evolves into Parasect there is few of it in both versions. Clefairy is a normal type and evolves into Clefable there is few of it in both versions.

There are 8 items in Mt.Moon they are: 1. potion, 2. potion , 3. rare candy, 4. escape rope, 5. moon stone, 6.tm12, 7. tm 01, 8. hp up.

After Mt.Moon you will come onto route 4. on route 4 you will find: Rattata,Spearow,Ekans and Sandshrew. There are many Rattatas in both version. There are few Spearow in both versions. Ekans is a poison type and evolves into Arbok and there is few of it in the red version and none of it in the blue version. Sandshrew is a ground type and evloves into Sandslash there is few of it in the blue version and none of it in the red version.

After you get through route 4 you will get to Cerulean city. The gym leader is Misty. She has 2 water type pokémon. Staryu its in level 18 and then Starmie in level 21. Bulbasaur ( which is probably Ivysaur)is a good pokémon for this battle. If you don't have it electric or grass type pokémon are good. I find her a hard trainer and if you level your pokémon up too high they won't obey you so be careful. When you defeat her you will get a Cascadebadge and a TM11.

So after this you head on to routes 24&25. There will be Gary and 6 team rocket trainers. They will give u a nugget after you defeat them. When u pass these trainers the pokémon in this area will be: Weedle there are many in the red version and few in the blue version , Kakuna there are many in the red version but few in the blue version , Pidgey there are few in both versions , Oddish is a grass poison type and evolves into Gloom then Vileplum there are few in the red version and none in the blue version , Abra is a psychic type and evolves into Kadabra then Alakazam there is few of it in both versions , Metapod there are few in the red version and many in the blue version ,Caterpie there is few in the red version and many in the blue version , Bellsprout is a grass poison type and evolves into Weepinbell then Victreebell there is none in the red version and few in the blue version. You can also find a TM 45 & TM 19 in this area. You will come to Bill’s house you help him and then he’ll give you an S.S Anne ticket.

Now go to route 5. There is a daycare if you go down the middle lane. The daycare man will take care of your pokémon for a while ( level them up decide what moves to teach them etc. ) of course when you go back you will have to pay... that depends on how long their there. The pokémon found in this area are : Oddish few in the red version and none in the blue version , Pidgey there are many in both versions , Mankey is a fighting type and evolves into Primeape there are few in the red version and none in the blue version , Bellsprout there are none in the red version and few in the blue version , Mewoth is a normal type and evolves into Persian there are none in the red version and few in the blue version.

Now go onto route 6. ( the underground path takes u here ) The pokémon found here are : Oddish few in the red version and none in the blue version , Pidgy many in both versions , Mankey few in the red version and none in the blue version , Bellsprout there are none in the blue version and few in the blue version , Mewoth there are none in the red version and few in the blue version. This route will lead you to Vermilion City. ( there are trainers along the path )

Now you are in Vermilion City . Go into the house titled Pokémon fan club. Talk to the man at the head of the table after you listen to all he has to say he’ll give you a bike voucher (so you can get a bike for free in Cerulean City ). In a house you can also trade a common Pidgey ( it also could be a Spearow) for a Farfetch’d it is a normal flying type pokémon and dosen’t evolve.

Now in Vermilion City is the S.S Anne! Go onto it. You can get 7 items here including an HM 01 from the captain. There is one item on the first floor. It is a TM 08. For most of these items you will have to battle trainers. There are lots of trainers on board to fight so you can earn some cash and level up your pokémon. If you go to the stairs on the left ( don’t go down the set of stairs you see down the hall ) you will find a Max ether in 1 room and a Rare Candy in another. If you go into the stairs down the hall your in and up you will find Gary fight him and you can get to the captain. If you do talk to the captain you will get the HM 01 but if you leave the ship you can’t go back on because the boat will leave. So if you go back into to the stairs you came in to get to the floor. Go to the stairs under them ( on the first floor thing where you first came on the ship) or down the hall ( whatever ) and look on the last garbage can you will find a great ball. Go back out the stairs you came in and go to the only case left on that level. You will find a Max potion in one of them a Ether in another and a TM 44 in another. Those are all the items on the ship. Now you can leave the S.S Anne ( you don’t have too and you can leave at any time but I just mean there’s no point on going back now)

Now you can go to the gym. Here you will have to find two switches in a row in the trash cans. There are a few trainers around there too. ( HINT: a hint for the trash cans is the switches have to be beside each other) Once you get in you can fight LT. Surge. He will have a Voltorb at level 21 a Pikachu at level 18 and a Raichu at level 24. Your best bet with him is a Ground-type pokémon. Water-electric-and flying-type won’t do so well. When you beat him he will give you a Thunderbadge and a TM 24. The TM contains Thunderbolt.

Now head on to route 11. The pokémon in this area are: Ekans many in the red version and none in the blue version , Spearow there are many in both versions , Drowzee is a psychic type and evolves into Hypno there are few in both versions , Sandshrew none in the red version and many in the blue version.Head into Diglett’s cave. ( the only cave there ) The only pokémon you can find in here are : Diglett a ground type and evolves into Dugtrio there are many of it in both versions , Dugtrio ground type and it dosen’t evolve ( since it is the evolved form of Diglett ) there are few in both versions.

Go onto routes 9 & 10. There is 1 item a TM 30. The pokémon found here are : Rattata many in both versions , Spearow many in both versions , Sandshrew none in the red and many in the blue , Ekans many in the red version none in the blue , Voltorb an electric type evolves into Electrode there are many in both versions. You will come to a pokémon center and the Rock Tunnel. Go into the Rock Tunnel.

( Rock Tunnel ) You will use the flash ability here if you didn’t get this from professor Oak’s aide then you’ll just have to stumble through. The pokémon found in here are : Zubat many in both versions , Geodude few in both versions , Machop a fighting type and it evolves into Machoke and then Machamp there are few of it in both versions. There are quite a few trainers in here so be ready.

Once you get out of the rock tunnel you will pretty much be in Lavender Town ( which is your next destiny). There is a house in here where if you want you can give your pokémon nicknames or change their nickname for free. He’ll also tell you if he likes your names. There’s no need in going into the Pokémon Tower until you have the Silph Scope.

When you are done go on to route 8. The pokémon that are here are : Pidgey there are few in both versions , Mankey there are few in the red version and none in the blue version , Ekans there are few in the red version and none in the blue version , Growlithe fire type evolves into Arcanine there are few in the red version and none in the blue version , Meowthe there are none in the red version and few in the blue version , Sandshrew there are none in the red version and few in the blue version , Vulpix is a fire type and evolves into Ninetales there are none in the red version and few in the blue version. Use the underground path to reach Celadon city.

When you come out of the underground path you will be on route 7. Celadon City is just over the turn. The pokémon here are : Pidgey there are few in both versions , Oddish there are few in the red version and none in the blue version , Mankey there are few in the red version and none in the blue version , Growlithe there are few in the red version and none in the blue version , Bellsprout there are none in the red version and few in the blue version , Meowthe there is none in the red version and few in the blue version , Vulpix there are none in the red version and few in the blue version.

Now your in Celadon City. There is a Celadon Mansion...... If you go in the back of this mansion after you go up so many staircases you will reach a place where you can get the pokémon Eevee. Eevee is a different pokémon and there is only one in the game. Eevee can change into three different pokémon but once its evolved into one thats the one it has to stay as. The three pokémon are Flareon it’s a fire type and must be evolved with fire stone , Jolteon is a electric type use the fire stone to evolve , Vaporeon is a water type use the water stone to evolve. Eevee just plain Eevee is a normal type. In this town there is also a pokémon center a pokémon gym a game corner a exchange corner a diner a warehouse and a department store. There is a girl near and if you give her Some fresh water she’ll give you a TM 13 and if you then give her a soda pop and Lemonade and she’ll give you a TM 48 and a TM 49. Don’t forget to keep a bottle of fresh water for the guards! ( for the one at the Saffron City gate) For Game corner you can get the coin case from a man in the diner. Now go into Game corner.

Fight the Team Rocket guy at the back by a picture. A secret door will open when you beat him. There is 13 items here. On the first basement ( where you start ) there is a Escape rope you can get. But after you get that go down the stairs. Here you can get a nugget a TM 07 a moon stone and a super potion. If you go down the stairs at the bottom you can get a hyper potion. Now go back those stairs and go to the top stair case. Here you can get Rare candy and a TM 10. Now go into the stairs at the bottom. You can get the lift key a TM 2 and a Hp Up. After you get the lift key ( you have to beat up the rocket man at the top to get it) go up and go into the elevator. Go to the 4th basement here you can get Iron. After you beat Giovanni you can get the Silph Scope. Now you can leave here.

Go to the gym. The gym leader here is Erika.. She has three pokémon. Victreebell level 29 , Tangela level 24 and Vileplum level 29. These are all grass type pokémon. After you defeat her she will give you a Rainbow Badge! It Allows all your pokémon to obey you until level 50. She’ll Also give you a TM 21.

Now head back to the Pokémon Tower in Lavender town. Now with the Silph Scope you can identify the pokémon. The pokémon you can find in the tower are: Gastly ghost poison type evolves into Haunter then Gengar there are many in both versions, Haunter ghost poison type evolves into Gengar there are few in both versions , Cubone ground type evolution Marowak there are few in both versions. There are 7 floors and on the 7th floor Mr.Fuji is there. On the 2nd floor Gary is waiting for you. On the 3rd floor there is an escape rope on the 4th floor there’s an Awakening an Ether and a Hp Up. On the 5th floor there’s a nugget and in the middle there is also a “safe zone” it will heal all your pokémon once you step on it. On the 6th floor you can get a X accuracy and a rare candy. On the 6th floor you will also have to beat up Marowak. You can’t catch this one though it is the restless soul of Marowak . Now you’ve reached the 7th floor you must beat 3 team rocket trainers then you’ll see Mr. Fuji go talk to him. He will give you the Poké Flute after you talk to him in his house. The poké Flute can wake any sleeping pokémon in or out of a battle.

Saffron City. Here there is a fighting Dojo a gym the Silph co. , a pokémon center and a pokémon mart. You’ll find most of the doors blocked off by Team Rockets. There is a man here by the fence on the 2nd last row of houses and he’ll give you a TM 29. Now go to the gym that’s open ( fighting dojo ). When you beat up the last man you have the choice of getting Hitmonlee Fighting type it doesn’t evolve or Hitmonchan fighting type and it doesn’t evolve. Hitmonlee uses its feet while Hitmonchan uses its hands. Now head to the Silph co. There are 11 floors. There is 15 items. There’s nothing on the 1st floor. The floor you’ll probably wanna go to next is the 9th floor .Now go to the 9th floor and go down the right hand side until the bottom then turn and behind the table there’s a warp go into it. Go down where you can see a narrow path that if there was no warp you wouldn’t be allowed to go on because of the team rocket Man. Follow that narrow path and you’ll get the card key. Now you can open doors. Go back to the 2nd floor to get a TM 36. Go to the 3rd floor to get a hyper potion. Go to the 4th floor to get an escape rope a max revive and a full heal. Go into the first door on your right hop into the warp that’s there and it will take you to Gary. He and another man. Once you defeat Gary talk to the man he will give you a pokémon called Lapras is a water type and doesn’t evolve. You will need it later in the game to teach it the surf ability. Now go into the warp that you didn’t go in yet. Now all you have to do is beat the Team Rocket trainer then go into Giovanni’s room. Defeat him and you’ll rescue the president of the Silph co. and to receive the foolproof MASTER BALL ! This is the only one in the game that you’ll ever receive. Its mainly for those hard to capture pokémon like Articuno , Magmar , Mew , Zapdos pokémon like that. There’s no point on wasting it on a pokémon like Pidgey or Ponyta or Pikachu or Spearow etc.

Now if you bought a poké Doll then go up to the top right hand corner the house in the middle of the three and give the girl the poké doll.

Now head to the gym. This gym leader Sabrina is the hardest said by most people including myself. Just take the warps and you’ll make it to her. Here’s one way to make it to her without having to fight any of the trainers : Just keep going into the one above or below you and after a while you’ll make it into the center where Sabrina is. She has 4 pokémon but the hardest is Alakazam. She has : Mr. Mime level 37 Kadabra level 38 Venomoth level 38 and Alakazam level 43. Alakazam is hard because it’ll confuse your pokémon and after you’ve just about beaten it it’ll recover all of its life. Well when you do beat Sabrina she’ll give you a TM 46 and a Marshbadge. The badge will ensure that all of your pokémon will obey you until level 70.

Now head out to route 12. This is a nice relaxing place. If you got the Old Rod in Vermilion City then pack that and your Poké Flute. You can fish if you wish although the fish might not bite that’s alright there’s a Super Rod near. Use the Poké Flute to wake up Snorlax you’ll only have two chances in the game to capture him and this is one of them. Snorlax normal type and doesn’t evolve. Now you’ve reached Fuchsia City. Here there is a gym , a pokémon center , The warden’s house and a pokémon mart. The gym leader here is Koga. The pokémon he has are : Muk level 39 , Koffing level 37 , Koffing level 37 and Weezing level 43. When you defeat him he’ll give you TM 06 and the Soul Badge. This could move the bolder in his living room. His teeth are in the Safari zone. But beside the warden’s house lives the fishing Guru’s older brother. He runs a fish far behind his house and if you talk to him you’ll receive the Super Rod! Then you can drop a line in his back yard and see what pops up! In the safari zone.
