Solon Women's Club Logo
The Solon Women's Club-GFWC is a member of the Lake Erie District (LED)
in the
Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs (OFWC)
and
of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC).

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 PM.
Location of meetings is the Solon Senior Center, 35000 Portz Parkway, Solon.
Each meeting offers timely, interesting, and entertaining programs.
All meetings are open to the public.

Solon Women's Club welcomes Lori Ausperk, school audiologist,
and Joanne Bonder, a teacher of 2nd grade hearing-impaired students,
who will speak about communication options for children with hearing loss.

OFWC celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Memorial Forest Shrine in 2007.
The Shrine is open to visitors throughout the year.
The new memorial walkway includes a paver from the Solon Women's Club.

The Solon Women's Club-GFWC contributes time and energy to local and national projects.
The members made blankets for the Linus Project and prepared seedlings for local elementary students.

Solon Women's Club-GFWC Projects, Past and Present
Fundraiser:Sweet Jazz an evening of jazz, dessert and a silent auction.
Baked and made comfort pillows for The Gathering Place
Participated in Make a Difference Day at Stratford Commons.
Sponsored Motown Madness dance, dinner, and silent auction.
Halloween party for Beechbrook residents.
Blankets for Project Linus
Sponsored Strollin' In Solon 1950s dance, dinner, and auction.
Clean up Solon Day with the Solon Beautification Committee.
Packaged trees for local students with the Solon Beautification Committee.
Planted flowers in the city with the Solon Beautification Committee.
Volunteered at the Cleveland FoodBank
Gift of Life Walk, annually co-sponsored by LifeBanc and the Lake Erie District, to raise funds for LifeBanc and awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation in Northeast Ohio.
Margaret Boling Memorial Scholarship. Named for a member of the SWC who was a teacher and who died of breast cancer, it helps a local high school senior further his/her education, based on community service.
Held 7th Grade Essay and 5th Grade Poster Contests for local students.
Made Hospital Gowns for children overseas being helped by Operation Smile.
Filled an I.M.A. Medicine Box with basic medical supplies and cash to be sent where it is needed anywhere in the world.
Poetry and Short Story Contents that let local third grade students display and be recognized for their creativity.
New Year's Eve Celebration with the Solon Community Action Team (CAT), to bring a family-oriented and safe New Year?s Eve celebration to Solon residents.
Collect Pop Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House
Solon Home Days Worked the main event booth, handing out balloons and info on the Solon Women's Club.
Solon Home Days Traveled in the Parade in the official club truck, tossing candy and dog biscuits and handing out SWC brochures.
Adopted a room a Battered Women's Shelter where we renovated a counseling room and entrance way, including plaster, paint, carpet, drapes, and supplies.
Walk-A-Thon held in memory of a founding club member, that showed the community how to incorporate exercise into their daily lives.
Comfort Pillows made for people recovering from surgery or in need of a small pillow for support.
