This is MissE (missy)- she is a beautiful Black Labrador Retriever born on September 4, 2002. Her name, MissE, is short for Little Miss Exception, because I swore I would never get another dog after our last bad experience but she proved to be the exception.
We stopped at the pet store one night because I wanted to look for some fancy guppies. Not finding guppies, we wandered over to check out the puppies (not a far jump from "guppies" to "puppies", right?). We really only intended to LOOK at the puppies. Then it happened: a bouncing, shiney black, huge puppy looked me straight in the eye and leaped straight into my heart! I've never been an enthusiastic dog lover, but this was different, it felt right. Has anyone else ever felt this way about a pet? MissE's price was marked down drastically because of her age (20 weeks) and the pet store wanted to get her out of there. She was a little thin but appeared to be otherwise healthy so we hugged and kissed and took the "new baby" home to our three very surprised children, two very put-out cats and a tank full of indifferent fish.

We've had MissE for six weeks now, and she is a loving, intelligent and very enthusiastic little lady. She knows what "No", "out", "down", and "out" means, and she even obeys a few non-verbal commands as well. MissE's favorite items to steal and chew up are my teenage daughter's flip-flops (ewww!) and furry stuffed animals. When my husband settles into his recliner for the evening, MissE will take a running start from the kitchen, through the dining room, into the living room and leap into his lap, oof!, all 35 pounds of her. (While Hubby encourages this nightly ritual, I remind him that she will get bigger and she just might turn him into a gelding some night!)
Despite the fact that she loves chair time with my husband and romping with the kids, she is Mommy's girl and follows me EVERYWHERE. Yes, everywhere. Just like a two year old kid, there is no privacy - but at least she doesn't point and ask two year-old questions!
MissE's my girl, and I love her.
