Advanced Stacking Techniques

Handcuff Carry

How you carry your gear and where you place it on your duty rig is important. For example, a firearm is placed in a holster and positioned ready for service when necessary.

Firearms training teaches us to draw and reholster a firearm without looking at the holster. Similarly, these handcuffing techniques begin with how the cuffs are placed in their case. Proper placement allows the handcuffs to be withdrawn and applied correctly every time.

An officer's eyes must remain focused on the person, not checking for which way the handcuffs come out of the case or making grip adjustments, etc.

Advanced Stacking Techniques promote safety by raising officer's awareness.
