membership committee this administration.
Focus not only on recruitment of new members and new clubs, but the
celebration of current members and clubs.
Show your pride as well by assisting with and attending the 2009 GFWC
Convention in
RECRUIT
·
Develop
an enthusiastic and proactive membership chairman/committee.
·
Conduct
an “ACT in Oct” event as a tool to recruit new members. “FOUR
More Would be GREAT in October ’08” and “Five More Would be DIVINE in October ’09” are
the goals for new member recruitment for this administration.
·
Recruit
new members throughout the year.
·
Develop
a club recruitment program/handbook that can be updated and utilized year to
year as well as materials to be distributed to potential members.
RETAIN/RENEW
·
Conduct
a “YOU Are the Heart of Federation” event in February. Develop “Ways to Warm the Heart” projects,
focus on current membership and renew passion for Federation through programs
and/or projects. Thank families and
other supporters. Combine these events
with other celebrations such as Heart Month, Chocolate Month, Friendship Month,
American History Month, and Random Acts of Kindness Week, Send a Card to a
Friend Day and Make a Friend Day.
·
Assign
established members to assist new members in integration into the club.
·
Revise
club meetings, programs/projects and procedures to better meet the needs of the
members. Make activities fun as well as
meaningful.
·
Celebrate
Federation Day on April 24 as well as club and member anniversaries.
·
Recognize
members for their accomplishments within the club and community.
·
Utilize
parliamentary, communication and leadership skills to facilitate meetings.
·
Utilize
multiple forms of communications to keep the members informed of programs and
projects.
·
Subscribe
to “GFWC Membership Matters” or receive it online.
·
Send
new members’ addresses and those with address changes to Mary Davis, The Buckeye Magazine Mailing List
Chairman and Sharon Pervo, GFWC/Ohio Treasurer.
·
Support
member attendance at district, state, region and International Meetings.
·
Be
involved with the 2009 GFWC International Convention.

Attend
the convention in

Join
and be an active member of the 2009 GFWC convention forum by signing on at http://www.ofwc2009.com.

Assist
with the hostess duties of the convention.
REBUILD

part of a New Club Building Team at the district and/or state level.

new clubs that meet the needs of today’s member.

AWARDS
·
Members
who recruit a minimum of two members during the 2008-2010 administration will
be awarded recognition certificates at state conventions.
·
Star
pins will be awarded to celebrate member recruitment levels.
·
The
Ruth Miller Memorial Bowl will be awarded to the club with the highest percent
of increase over maintained number of members.
·
The
Jean Browning Juniorette Memorial Bowl will be awarded to the Juniorette club
with the highest percent of increase over maintained number of members.
·
The
Daisy Bell Award will be awarded to the district with the most Direct Members.
·
The
Rainbow Award will be awarded to the club with the most outstanding membership
campaign.
·
The Celebration
Award will be awarded to the club with the most outstanding “YOU are the Heart
of Federation” event.
CONTEST
Clubwoman Essay

2008 – 2010 CLUBWOMAN ESSAY
CONTEST
“Hearts and Hands of
Membership”
This contest is
open to ALL GFWC/Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs per capita members and is
limited to one (1) entry per year per member.
The essay winner of the previous year is not eligible to win the award,
but may submit an essay. Contestants may
not re-submit the same essay the second year of the contest and the topic of
the second year essay must be from a different aspect of the theme.
THEME – “Hearts
and Hands of Membership”
LENGTH – The
essay shall be no less than 400 words and no more than 800 words. Articles such as “a”, “an”, and “the” will
not be counted.
FORM – The essay
shall be typed or word-processed. The
essay shall be double spaced on one side of 81/2 x 11-inch paper with a cover
page. Use Times New
Roman size 12 font if computer-generated, pica if typewritten.

JUDGING – Essays
shall be judged at the state level by a panel of two or more people. The decisions of the judges are final.
