GFWC/Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs
Message from the Director of Junior Clubs
Lisa Hedrick

OFWC Junior Logo What an exciting time this is for the General Federation Women’s Clubs. Our new administration is focusing on ideas and partnerships that will help generate a new global image. We have an important history that allows us to use our creativity, our beliefs and our wisdom to work with others. We are dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. Our strength as an organization will improve with continued commitment to our goals and the passion and determination of our members.

How can we help? The Junior theme will be Leading The Way. We will use our expertise, our enthusiasm and our passion to give our BEST. We will focus on the leadership development of our members. We need leadership skills to be an effective member of a club as well as a leader. The relationships between our members can cause conflict if we are not sensitive to the way we interact with others. We need to give positive reinforcement to our members on every job well done and give credit where credit is due. The new GFWC programs will include specific and detailed information to develop presentation skills, delegating, different personalities, communicating and time management. Use these programs to help yourself and the club membership to be become confident and well informed leaders to serve our organization.

We will make our clubs stronger with new members. The GFWC Membership team has given us a full year of ideas that has a combination of fun, fellowship and service at monthly meetings. These new members will be informed of our rich history, their responsibilities to their club position, the support available at district and state levels and the multitude of hands at their disposal to work on projects. I will personally be visiting all Junior and Juniorette clubs during this administration. The Junior Board members are available for programs on their specific areas of interest and the GFWC partners have abundant free materials. We will show you the big picture of GFWC and proudly report on your community interests.

The Junior pin for this administration illustrates a tree of hands. I believe being an asset of society comes from using your hands to work for yourself and to help others. It takes many hands to complete our goals and outstretched hands are open to ideas and change. The tree has roots because we have a very important, strong history that we need to honor and recognize. The colors of purple and green will represent our domestic violence focus as an organization and the green will stand for our growth. This will be our year of growth in membership and prepared leaders because we have the wisdom and passion to believe in ourselves.

I am looking forward to working with the enthusiastic and dedicated women that are the foundation of the Junior Membership. You are motivated, inspired, determined and very passionate about your communities. I look forward to attending your meetings and networking with each of the rising leaders as we prepare to achieve success. I am honored to represent this great organization and I can say without hesitation that you are truly extraordinary.

In Federation Fun and Friendship,
Lisa
