"Trojans Headed Back to Hillsboro
"Times Sports Report
"It turns out the Portsmouth Trojans won't have to travel any farther away from home for its third playoff game this weekend.
"Portsmouth (12-0), fresh off its impressive 37-6 pasting of Cincinnati Purcell-Marian Saturday in the Regional semifinals at Hillsboro, will get to play at the same place this week for its Division III Regional Championship game.
"The Trojans will take on Dayton Chaminade-Julienne (10-2) once again at Hillsboro's Richards Memorial Field on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. as announced by the OHSAA Sunday afternoon.
"It was feared beforehand that the No. 1 ranked Trojans would have to travel as far away as Cincinnati or Dayton for its third-round playoff contest, giving them a 2-to-3 hour drive.
"But Saturday's game at Hillsboro guarantees the Trojans will not have to travel any farther away than they did this past Saturday.
"Portsmouth will attempt to become the first Scioto County school since 1998 to advance to the State Semifinals in football Saturday.
"Wheelersburg was the last [Scioto] County [school] to do it in 1998 when it lost to Versailles 14-7 in the Division V State Semifinals in Cincinnati that year.
"Portsmouth last made the State Semifinals in 1984, falling to Philo in that game.
"Presale ticket information will be released soon and will appear in this week's Daily Times Sports Section."
