Comic Supergirl (TODAYS)

Supergirl Comic Info. Super powers include super-strength, super-speed and flight. As an earth-born angel, she can manifest wings of flame and project fire vision. Real Name: Matrix ("Mae"), Linda Danvers Occupation: Adventurer Marital Status: Single Height: 5' 11" Weight: 140 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Blonde First Appearance: SUPERMAN #16 (April, 1988) An artificial being created in a pocket universe, Supergirl came to our world and was raised by the Kents until setting out on her own. It was when she came upon the dying Linda Danvers that her life changed dramatically. Linda had been injured in a cult ritual, and having sworn an oath to Linda's parents that she would save their daughter, Supergirl sacrificed herself by merging her protoplasmic body with Linda's. The blending created a new and unusual entity. However, for Linda Danvers, who had fallen far from grace, it was an entrance into a world seen through the eyes of a being who only looks for the best in others. For Supergirl, it was a connection to humanity and the granting of a human soul — albeit a dark and flawed spirit which she was able to redeem through great effort. Together, they are a new and powerful incarnation that is, quite simply, an earth-born angel. An angel on earth with wings of flame, serving to protect the interests of both mankind and God.

Cartoon Supergirl named Kara In-ZE

Supergirl Kara In-ZE Bio. When Krypton exploded, its smaller neighbor planet, Argos, was thrown out of its rotation and sent flying into space. Fortunately Argos's top scientist convinced the people of' Argos that Krypton's destruction was at hand, and together they managed to construct a force field that maintained the gravity and atmosphere of their planet. For sixteen years the residents of Argos survived. In time Argos's force field began to fail, and, sensing the end of their world, the scientist placed her family in cryo-tubes to preserve them until help could arrive. Kara, however, was the only one to survive. Clark was delighted to know there had been another survivor of the Krypton system. Superman introduced Kara to his adoptive parents who took her in and are now helping her adjust to life on Earth. (In order to blend in, Kara has taken the last name Kent and Jonathan and Martha explain that she is a niece on Jonathan's side of the family.) Inspired by her "cousin" Clark, Kara has made a costume similar to Superman's and occasionally joins on missions as Supergirl. Kara frequently visits Clark in Metropolis and, as Supergirl, she has full access to Superman's Fortress of Solitude. Because Argosians and Kryptonians sprang from a common humanoid ancestor millions of years before, Supergirl's powers closely parallel Superman's. As a result, Supergirl has powers that are similar to Superman's (flight, strength, heat vision, super-hearing), but is more resistant to Kryptonite. (Exposure to the radioactive element would kill Superman in about twenty minutes but Supergirl could hold out for several hours.) Also, because Supergirl is nearly half Superman's age (16), her powers are not quite as strong as his. She more than makes up for this in attitude, which is cocky, hip and very independent. With Supergirl, Superman has a living link to his alien heritage, and someone he can talk to about his dual lives as Superman and Clark Kent. She is a frequent friendly ally who can be trusted with Superman's secret. Supergirl Episode Appearances Little Girl Lost BATMAN EPISODE - Girls' Night Out UNITY

The First Supergirl (Kara Zor-El)

When Superman's home planet Krypton exploded, a large section of the surface remained intact .The citizens of Argo City had built a large dome over their city before the explosion, and they thus survived. The survivors had "food machines", and a dome of air over the city to let them breathe. . The entire city floor was turned into kryptonite. To block the poisonous radiation of the anti-kryptonite, a scientist named Zor-El (uncle of Superman) suggested creating a sheild of sheet lead. The plan worked and Argo City became the only surviving part of Krypton. He eventually married and had a child named Kara Zor-El. The Kryptonians expected their city to last for a long time, but a meteor shower smashed their lead shield and exposed the kryptonite. Zor-El and his wife Alura arranged to send Kara offworld. Their telescopes found Earth, and revealed Superman exploits on Earth. They created a costume for her (similar to his) and taught her English and sent her on her way with a red rocket. Kara thought she was an "orphan of space"--the only survivor of her city. When Kara's rocket landed on Earth, Superman arrived to find a girl wearing a costume similar to his. She and him set up a secret identity: Linda Lee, a brown-haired (thanks to a wig) orphaned teenager. Superman escorted Linda to Midvale Orphanage, where she lived during her first years on Earth. Superman thought it was best if she remained a secret for a while, and she was only able to use her super-powers in secret. Supergirl was introduced to the world by Superman, and began a super-heroing career. She graduated from Midvale high school and then to Stanhope University. She eventually adopted Chicago as a base of operations. In the Crisis of Infinite Earths #7, Supergirl is killed while trying to protect her cousin from the Anti-Monitor. Post-Crisis, the DC writers changed it so she never existed. Now the people who were her friends and confidants cannot even mourn her death, but to too many people she IS Supergirl. Superhuman Powers: Supergirl's Kryptonian body became superpowered under the yellow sun. She is super-strong, and able to lift a plane. She is able to fly and is super-fast. She is invulnerable enough for bullets to bounce off of her. She is also invulnerable to drugs and poisons and can survive in most environments as long as she is under a yellow sun. Her vision extends well over the normal spectrum, and allows her: X-Ray vision, Infra-Red vision, Microsopic Vision, and Telescopic Vision. She can also extend her range of hearing, and single out a single voice within a city. She can also project intense beams of light from her eyes in the form of heat vision. Her only vulnerabilities (besides not being under a yellow sun) are kryptonite and magic. Both of these cause her to loose all of her powers. Known Relatives: Zor-El [father] Alura In-Ze [mother] Kal-El [Superman, cousin] Jor-El [uncle] Fred Danvers [adoptive father] Edna Danvers [adoptive mother]
