Comic Ivy
Name: Pamela Lillian Isley Alias: Poison Ivy Height: 5'6" Weight: 115 lbs First Comic Book Appearance Batman #181, June 1966. "While away attending college Pamela Lillian Isley, a brilliant student of botany, is seduced by her science teacher, Dr. Jason Woodrue (later known as the Floronic Man or Floro), and was convinced to become the integral part in his plant toxin experiments.Unknown to a young and trusting Pamela, Dr. Woodrue introduced deadly toxins into her bloodstream and the toxins fused with her very essence-turning her into something beyond human. Strangely, this gave Pamela a resistance to all poisons but it also gave her a poisonous touch as well and the infamous deadly poisoned kiss. With these new found "powers" Pamela Isley would assume the guise of Poison Ivy and wreak havoc in Gotham City by committing crimes of eco-terrorism and crimes of dangerous passion. A passion held, mainly, for the Batman who continues to spurn her seductive and deadly nature." (I definately prefer this origin) |

Real Name : Pamela Lillian Isley Occupation : Botanist, Criminal, Eco-terrorist Height : 5" 1' Weight : 110 lbs Eyes : Green Hair : Red Voice : Diane Pershing The origin of this particular Ivy has always seemed a little strange, if not incomplete, to me. There has yet to be a sensible explanation as to how she aquired her hyper-immune and her toxic biochemistry because they are so rarely mentioned in the series. When Poison Ivy is first introduced ("Pretty Poison") she uses the poisons from her plants to bring harm to her victims and the poisons are administered through her lipsticks and not necessarily from her body. But, later in the series there is definate mention of her immunity to poisons and toxins ("Almost Got Im", "Harley and Ivy", and "House and Garden") but still no mention of whether or not her body itself can cause harm. There is a brief bio on Poison Ivy on the back of the movie box which features two select episodes from the animated series. Within this bio there is mention of Poison Ivy being "born" with a natural immunity to poisons (?). I have decided to include that piece as the explained origin for the animated Poison Ivy. "Pretty as a rose, but twice as deadly as it's thorns, Poison Ivy is easily Batman's and Robin's most toxic enemy. Born with a natural immunity to poisons, Pamela Isley abandoned her career as a botanist to destroy those she felt exploited the plant world. Armed with fatal toxins, killer plants and her hypnotic poisoned kisses, Poison Ivy continues to make life itchy for the dynamic duo." Appearance Guide: In time I will provide summations and reviews of each of these episodes, so stay tuned! here'a the bio on her from the Batman animated website. Pamela Lillian Isley was a well-known and highly successful botanist. After learning she has a hyperactive immune system that causes her body reject any infection, poison, or outside contamination, she dons the guise of "Poison Ivy" and begins a career of crime. Those who spurn or commit acts that harm plant life or the environment become the object of the evil affections of Poison Ivy. She is evil yet can be incredibly seductive in luring men to do her bidding. Her crimes are often targeted toward wealthy men. She is known to use poison perfumes and lipstick as well as plant creatures of her own design. The animated series introduces Poison Ivy as a botanist who works for a cosmetics company developing new fragrances. When she sees then DA Harvey Dent destroy an endangered plant during the ground-breaking ceremony for Stone Gate Prison, he becomes the first object of her evil affections. After almost killing Dent with her poisonous lipstick, she is apprehended by Batman. This incident with Dent causes a great rift between Ivy and Two Face, who has a great animosity toward her. She is known to have an occasional partnership/friendship with Harley Quinn. She is not liked by the various members of the rogues gallery, but is greatly respected. The Other Ivy The villainous Vixen of Vines, Poison Ivy (Pamela Lillian Isley), returns as lethal as ever, continuing her crusade for botanical supremacy over Gotham. While essentially a loner, Ivy is not above "hanging with the girls," as she occasionally re-teams with Harley Quinn, and even in one episode, Superman's foe Livewire as well. Ivy will remain one of Batman's most lethal foe's, continuing to duel with the Dark Knight to avoid the ceremonial trip back to Arkham Asylum.
