GENERATION TWO

Alfred Henry Dray, II(1), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 28 June 1862 in England.¹ He immigrated to the United States with his mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.² Around 1883, he married Elizabeth Brooks.³ She was born __ May 1864 in Illinois.4 Alfred and Elizabeth had three children:5

1.3. Kathryn Lois Dray-Clapp, 03 April 1897-04 July 1987
Alfred was a blacksmith.6 Elizabeth died in 1919.7 She was buried in ParkView Cemetery, San Joaquin County, California.8

Susannah Dray(2), daughter of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 29 January 1864 in England.9 She immigrated to the United States with her mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.10 On 26 April 1885 in Nebraska, she married Charles Allen Voorhies.11 He was born in 1864 in Iowa.12 “Susan” and Charles had six children:13

Charles was a farmer and worked for the postal service.14 He died 16 May 1946 in Montana.15 Susan died 13 November 1952 in Montana.16

Preston James Dray(3), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 25 January 1866 in England.17 He immigrated to the United States with his mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.18 In April 1893 he married Carrie Eliza McQuiston.19 She was born 07 February 1857 in Faribault, Minnesota.20 “James” worked as a barber.21 Carrie died before the 1920 federal census.22 On 13 August 1928 at Ely, White Pine County, Nevada, James remarried to Claireta Tamblyn.23

Harry James Dray(4), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 12 January 1868 in Swansbrook, England.24 He immigrated to the United States with his mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.25 Around 1893 in Peru, Nebraska, he married Emma E. Randol.26 She was born __ October 1871 in Nebraska.27 Emma was the daughter of J. P. and Emily Randol.28 Harry and Emma had four children:29

Harry worked as a printer and newspaper editor, and served as Post Master in Weatherford, Oklahoma.30 He was a democrat and a member of the Episcopal Church and active in the community, where he served seven years as clerk of the local school board and was also a Mason and member of Knights of Pythias, Modern Woodmen of America, Royal Highlanders and the Court of Honor.31

William Saxby Dray(5), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 20 August 1869 in Swansbrook, England.32 He immigrated to the United States with his mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.33 On 20 June 1894 at Christian Church, Mound City, Holt County, Missouri, he married Laura Belle Garner. 34 She was born 29 December 1868 in Richardson County, Nebraska.35 “Belle” was the daughter of Jasper J. and Sarah (Norris) Garner.36 William and Belle had five children:37

William worked as a printer and editor, and later served as Post Master in Savannah, Andrew County, Missouri.38 “Belle” died 06 December 1936 at Savannah, Andrew County, Missouri.39 She was buried in Savannah Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.40 William died 26 May 1955 at St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri.41 On 29 May 1955, he also was buried in Savannah Cemetery.42

Richard Bennett Dray(6), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 13 September 1870 in England.43 He immigrated to the United States with his mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.44 Richard died prior to the 1910 federal census.45

Sarah Jane Dray(7), daughter of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 18 July 1871 in England.46 She immigrated to the United States with her mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.47 Around 1905, she married Canfield N. Cooley.48 He was born c.1857 in New York.49 “Jennie” was a schoolteacher.50 Canfield was a Congregationalist minister.51 Jennie died 27 August 1923 at Black Lake, Kootenai County, Idaho.52

Eleanor Mary Dray(8), daughter of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 15 July 1873 in England.53 She immigrated to the United States with her mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.54 Around 1893, she married Frederick Henry Cox.55 He was born 22 December 1864 in London, England.56 “Henry” was the son of George and Sarah Ann (Lambuth) Cox. He had immigrated to the United States around 1888.57 Eleanor and Frederick had eight children:58

“Henry” was employed by the Midland Valley Railroad from 1910 until the late 1940’s.59 He also was a blacksmith and a farmer.60 He died 28 December 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.61 He was buried in Greenhill Cemetery.62 Eleanor died 10 May 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.63 She also was buried in Greenhill Cemetery.64

Minnie Annie Dray(9), daughter of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 29 September 1873 in England.65 She immigrated to the United States with her mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.66 On 05 June 1905 at Basin, Big Horn County, Wyoming, she married Albert W. Gaddis.67 Minnie died before the 1910 federal census.68

George Charles Dray(10), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 18 October 1874.69 He immigrated to the United States with his mother and nine siblings aboard “The Queen” from Liverpool, England, docking at the Port of New York in December 1874.70 George died prior to the 1910 federal census.71

Ernest Albert Dray(11), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 29 May 1876.72 He died in infancy.73

Frank Edmond Dray(12), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 30 July 1877 in Iowa.74 Frank worked as a machinist for the railroad.75 He was of medium height and slender build, with brown eyes and dark hair.76

Frederick Edward Dray(13), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 30 July 1879 in Iowa.77 “Edward” died prior to the 1910 federal census.78

Margaret Lindsay Dray(14), daughter of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 24 November 1880 in Iowa.79 Prior to her marriage she was a schoolteacher.80 Around 1900, she married John Morris Griffith.81 He was born 03 October 1880 in Nebraska.82 Margaret and Morris had one son:83

Morris worked as a machinist for the railroad.84 Margaret worked as a dressmaker and an art shop salesperson.85 She died 01 October 1957 in Lake County, Montana.86

Robert Irving Dray(15), son of Alfred Henry and Susannah (Smith) Dray, was born 26 September 1886.87 “Irving” died prior to the 1910 federal census.88
