EMERY J. GUNTER

Funeral services officiated by Pastor Roger Belshaw were held on Tuesday, February 18 at Driskill Memorial Chapel for Emery Julius Gunter, 76, of Mr. Vernon.

Gunter passed away on Thursday, February 13 at the Blue Mountain Hospital in Post Oak, Texas. Gunter was the son of john and Annie Gunter. Working as a farmer for most of his life, Gunter, a member of the Baptist Church, married Beulah V. Pierce on February 2, 1945 in Oakland, California.

He is survived by two daughters, Laverne Dunn of Mt. Vernon, Barbara Weaver of Seaside; three brothers, Olca Gunter of Ft. Bragg, California, G. C. Gunter of Spencerville, Oklahoma, Edward Crowder of Hayworth; one sister, Lovie Walker of Springdale, Arkansas; four great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.

Gunter was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one step-father, two brothers, and six sisters. The pall bearers for the service were Ed, Elmer, Jerry, and Paul Gill, Robert Mapes and Donale Dunn, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were David Bullock, Mike Harvey, Tom Harvey, Charles and Alvin Hyder, and Leonard Nelson.
