The death angel visited the home of Mr. Manford Lemaster January 14, 1932 and took away their beloved daughter, Merlie, to the great beyond. She leaves a father, mother, three brothers, and two sisters. Her brothers are Roy, Tommie and Plennie Lemaster. Her sisters are Smantha and Nellie Lemaster, and besides a host of friends. Merlie had been in poor health for some time, and was never worried the least bit. She called for the christian people to come and pray with her that if it was god’s will, she was perfectly willing to go. When she realized that it was god’s will that her health be restored, she wanted the christian people to be singing or praying all the time until she was called away. She finally began to pray that the lord would send his angels and recieve her unto him. She said she saw angels with white wings leaving the throne, which were coming after.

During the time when she had visions, she invited the sinners to come and let her pray with them that god would save them, as that was her desire to see people saved. When she began to ask someone to kneel by her bedside, Nervie Salyer, Ethel Lemaster and Nellie, her sister, came and knelt at her bedside for prayer. Then she pleaded for someone else to come and alter for prayer. She remarked that her father, brothers and sisters were still in sin, and that she did’nt know about her mother, and she asked her to pray too if she was not just where she ought to be with the lord. Then she called them all down to prayer, and led the prayer. During the prayer, she remarked, “Just look at the sheep, and said she saw one little sheep in a pen by itself. Then she said that someone was going to get saved, and looked and saw her father, and asked Harry Salyer to go and talk to him, and he came in tears and knelt by her bedside, Then she rejoiced and called for everybody to pray again.

Then after the prayer she asked Jno. J. Conely to talk to her father for her and Harry Salyer to pray for Nellie, her sister. Then she asked Freddie Crislip to pray. Sometime afterwards, Ethel Lemaster, her sister in law, told her that she was ready to meet her. Then Merlie rejoiced and saw in a vision a dove, and said that it was for Tommie, her brother. The she asked Harry Salyer to bring Tommie to her. When he came to her, he was rejoicing and told her that he was ready to meet her. Then she rejoiced in the Saviours love, and thanked the Lord for those that had professed a hope in him. Then she called for smantha, her other, sister to come to her bedside and kneel while and she prayed for her. Then she said “Lord, come and get me”, and would remark, “Lord, why won’t you come and get me” ?

Then she lay and rested a few minutes, and her father came to her, and she asked him if he was ready to meet her in heaven and he answered, “Merlie, I feel that i am ready to meet you”. Then she said,”praise the lord”.

Then she said “my breath is very short now, and i have’nt long to stay with you all”. Looking at her father , she said “Now pa, i want to ask one thing from you, will you get me a white organdy dress? I have a nice silk dress, but i don’t want to be dressed in silk. I don’t want silk hose. I just want a pair of white cotton hose. I don’t want any ring on my finger, nor beads on my neck. I have a nice pair of slippers, but i don’t want them put on me, i just want a pair of blue house slippers. I want my dress made long, and ribbon bow placed on the right side of my breast and i want the pin Ethel gave me placed on the bow. I want to wear the pin to the grave, then, harry, I want you to take the pin from the bow, and give it to pa, and pa i want you to wear the pin on your coat, and be careful not to lose it”. Then she said “Ethel, you don’t care for me giving this pin to pa: that said jesus only one it?, do you” Then she said “Harry i want you to sit here and talk to me about the lord, I am growing weaker all the time. It won’t be long till i can be with Hazel, Vera, Sister and Minnie. She lived 38 hours after making these requests, and still requested people to pray that she might pass away easy, and when death came she went just like going to sleep. She was laid to rest near the old home place, where she had spent her childhood days.
