Dan's Suzuki Samurai

And Other Stuff

I purchased the 1988 Samurai in June 1998 from a little old lady (really)with 87,021 miles for $1500.00. After I got it the stock carb was flooding out occasionally so in August I installed a Weber carb using the stock air box. This was a big improvement in performance. In October I did the spring over conversion using spring pads I fabricted from 2"x4", 3/16" wall tubing. I used a 3" dropped pitman arm, drive shaft spacers, and 5" longer braided stainless steel brake lines. I cut the front bumper and its mounting brackets to prevent tire contact. While it was apart and up on stands I painted the under carriage semi flat black.

The tires are BFG Mud Terrains, 31x10.5 on American Racing 15x8 type 23 wheels. I'm using the stock shocks for now but that will change sometime soon. I just received a Rancho steering stabilizer and a Thorley header from Petroworks and will be installing a 2" exhaust with a turbo muffler. Future modifications as time and money permit include: new shock mounts and long travel shocks, ConFerr 1" shackles, and Rock Crawler transfer case gears.

I'm building a back bumper with a swing away tire carrier for a full size spare. Also I would like a full roll cage and a winch.
This Samurai is strickly a toy and not a daily driver. It's something I've wanted for a long time but with raising a family, buying a house and everything else, I finally got it at 42 years old. I've owned five other 4x4's over the years but the Samurai is the most fun. If you find any of this interesting and would like to contact me, just click on the mail box.
