Chapter 5
Alan and Monica sat by Jason's bed, hovering over him. Monica
looked
pale and stricken, she couldn't believe this was happening again.
Jason, he had been so gifted so special and now he lay lifeless in
this bed, again. She remembered the last time this happened, when he
had woken up and rejected everyone it had nearly destroyed her.
He'd
moved out, was working in a garage and dating Carly Spencer! Just the
thought of Carly made Monica's blood boil, the hell that girl had
put
Bobbie through. Bobbie had been so happy when she found Carly; Carly
however never seemed to think Bobbie did enough. Bobbie was
Monica's
closest friend and Monica saw what their fights did to Bobbie. Of
course Monica had her own reasons for not liking Carly. A.J. her
eldest son had fallen under Carly's spell a few years ago. They
were
only a year apart but boy was Carly a pro. She broke A.J.'s
heart;
she would date him periodically and then for no reason at all just
shut him out. It had torn A.J. up; he had always felt second best to
Jason and the fact that the one girl he thought he loved jerked him
around pushed A.J. over the edge causing him to drink. Carly had
broken up with A.J. the night he was in the car accident with Jason.
Then Carly had topped even Monica's expectations of her when she
started dating Jason. Carly had caused the Quartermaines to lose
Jason once, Monica would never forgive her if she did it again. Jason
could die simply because he had been on his way to see her!
Monica hand flew to her mouth when she saw Jason move.
Jason opened his eyes, he felt like he been hit by a truck. His eyes
began to focus and he saw Alan and Monica. What were they doing here?
Monica saw Jason's eyes open and she sighed with relief, at least
he
was awake. "Jason, you're awake!"
Alan felt tears in his eyes; he smiled at his son. "Thank God,
are
you in any pain? I'll get the doctor."
Jason looked at both of them. "What happened?"
Monica smiled at the fact that he was coherent. "You were in an
accident with your bike, but you're going to be fine."
Alan got up and went to tell one of the nurses that Jason was awake.

Sonny jumped a foot in the air when he heard the phone ring bringing
him out of his sleep. He quickly grabbed the phone and sat
up. "Hello?"
Alan could here the worry in Sonny's voice. "Sonny, Jason
just woke
up. He's talking but we won't know everything until the
doctor checks
him out."
Sonny sighed with relief; "Do you think he'll be all
right?"
Alan was silent for a minute and then he answered. "I don't
know for
sure but I think he might be."
Sonny felt his heart begin to beat normally again, for the first time
that night. "Thanks for calling Alan."
"Your welcome," Alan hung up the phone and hurried back to
Jason's
room.

Carly felt someone nudge her awake, she opened her eyes and upon
seeing Sonny bolted up right in bed. The entire night coming back to
her in an instant. "Is he okay? What happened?"
Sonny looked at Carly's worried face; she looked like a lost
child.
Her chameleon like personalities again mystified him. " Alan just
called, they still have to run tests but they think he'll be
fine."
Carly felt tears spilling over and running down her face.
"He's okay.
He's actually going to be okay."
Carly looked towards Sonny, not really knowing what to say. He'd
seen
far too much of the real Carly Spencer. The loud pounding on the
front door saved her from having to think of something.
Sonny, also feeling awkward got up and went to the door. He opened it
finding a very irate looking Bobbie Spencer. "Hey Bobbie, what
are
you doing here?"
Bobbie smiled briefly at seeing Sonny, but then her face returned to
her original expression. "Carly's here, isn't she?
Bobbie paused for only a second, not giving Sonny a chance to
respond. "CARLY! Get out here, now!"
Bobbie walked into the apartment and looked around. She glared at her
daughter when she saw her coming out of Jason's bedroom looking
like
she'd just woken up. "Well, at least you have your clothes
on. Why
aren't you at home watching your brother?"
Carly looked confused, then glancing at Sonny she became embarrassed,
not many people had witnessed Carly's fights with Bobbie.
"Didn't you
talk to Lucky, isn't he still there?"
Bobbie became even angrier. "Yes Lucky is there, asleep on the
couch.
The question is why aren't you there? I knew you'd be here, I
hope
you had a fun evening with Jason Carly because you are so grounded. I
told you to baby sit your brother, but can you do even that? No!"
Sonny stared mystified at Bobbie. He had never seen her go on so, she
wasn't even giving Carly a chance to explain and Carly... Sonny
had
never seen Carly like this, she was staring at Bobbie, but her eyes
were blank like she was tuning everything out. Carly looked beat.
Sonny knew he had to step in especially after the night Carly had
had. "Bobbie... Bobbie.
Bobbie was still going off on her tirade to Carly. Sonny spoke
louder. "BOBBIE"
Bobbie finally turned and looked at Sonny. "God Sonny, I'm
sorry."
Bobbie turned back to Carly. "Let's finish this at home."
Sonny stepped in front of Carly and looked at Bobbie. "Bobbie,
Jason
was in a car accident tonight. I came and got Carly from your house,
we've been waiting for Alan to call."
Bobbie's expression immediately became one of concern. " Oh
Sonny, is
he going to be all right?"
Bobbie was genuinely worried; she had come to really like Jason.
Sonny's eyes went wide. Bobbie was worried about Jason, fine he
could
understand that but she didn't even glance in Carly's
direction. Let
alone make a move to comfort her. "Yes Alan just called, they
think
he'll be okay. "
Sonny looked pointedly at Carly. "Carly has been worried sick,
you
should take her home, maybe talk to her."
Bobbie looked at Carly and saw the dark circles under her
daughter's
eyes; she took in the rest of her appearance and nodded at Sonny.
"
You're right, thank you."
Bobbie went over to Carly and tried to touch her. Carly recoiled at
her mother's touch and simply headed for the door. Not looking
back
at her mother or Sonny.
Bobbie turned to Sonny. " Call me if there's anything I can
do."
Sonny nodded, still amazed by what had happened and watched as Bobbie
followed her daughter out of the apartment.

Jason sighed, thankful that Alan and Monica had finally left. It felt
like they had been there forever. Even after the doctors had finished
with their tests, at least the ones they could do this early in the
morning,. Alan and Monica had stayed. Jason turned over and sighed he
was so tired that he was almost immediately immersed in sleep.
Jason awoke filled with terror; he looked around frantically not
remembering exactly where he was or how long he'd been asleep. He
thought back to his dream he had been walking through the
Quartermaine mansion. Only no one was there, it had had a very ere
feeling to it. Jason now found himself realizing he was sweating and
breathing heavy. He put his hands over his eyes in an effort to
relax. Finally after what seemed like forever he felt himself drift
off again.

The next morning Carly awoke to the all too familiar feeling of
dread. Corinthos had seen everything last night. He heard her
dreaming about Lisa, he'd seen her freak out, he'd even seen
Bobbie
go postal on her. The only good thing that had happened was that
Jason was going to be okay. Carly wanted more than anything to go
visit Jason in the hospital, but she knew better than to do so. For
one Monica was guaranteed to be there. Carly knew how much Monica
hated her, but last night her only thoughts had been about Jason.
Monica's hatred was not without reason. Carly had jerked A.J.
around
quite a bit. She had been so shocked when A.J. had wanted to date
her, she'd said yes without thinking, he was so normal and he had
this important family who obviously loved him. But anytime A.J. had
gotten to close she always pulled away, she knew she had hurt him and
she felt horrible about it. So she tried to date him again determined
to have a normal healthy relationship. Of course it had the same
results and Carly realized she had hurt him again. She finally broke
up with him for good not wanting to put him through anything else.
A.J. hadn't taken it to well and had gotten completely bombed.
Jason
found him and of course tried to stop him and well the rest was
obvious. When she had first started Jason she had felt responsible,
she still did in a way but she also had real feelings for Jason and
even though it hurt that Jason was not big on emotional intimacy it
was safe and safe was good.
Carly thought back to Sonny, God now she'd have to go see him.
Carly
groaned and got out of bed.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Sonny had just finished his morning coffee and was debating whether
or not to go visit Jason. Sonny knew how much Jason hated hospitals
and he also knew that he would not be welcome there. Knowing Jason
though as soon as he was able to walk he'd leave the hospital and
the
Quartermaines that were undoubtedly hovering. Sonny heard a knock,
he looked towards the door in surprise and then groaned. The only
person it could be was Hannah, Sonny really liked Hannah, and he had
a great time with her. But she was so perfect, it was wearing thin
and right now it was the last thing he wanted to deal with. Sonny
sighed, plastered a fake smile on his face and opened the door.
When the door opened Carly saw Sonny standing in front of her with
this pathetic version of a happy smile. "You don't have to
fake
smiles for me Corinthos; I'm used to your scowl."
Sonny's face immediately went back to normal at seeing Carly.
" I
thought you were someone else."
Carly didn't ask who, she didn't care. She just wanted to do
what she
came to do and get out of here. "Look Corinthos, I was really out
of
it last night. I..."
Carly stopped and walked into the apartment, she sat down on the
couch and looked at the floor. "Look nobody knows about Lisa,
well
Bobbie knows a bit cause they told her when she took me back but
Jason doesn't know anything about it. I'd like to keep it
that way. I
know it's pretty incredible that I'm asking you for a favour,
I just
don't want people knowing. Your knowing is bad enough."
Sonny sat down next to Carly. "I won't tell anyone, but you
do know
that Jason would understand, don't you?"
Carly groaned and looked at Sonny. "That's just it, he'd
understand,
he'd feel bad for me. It'd be poor Carly and I can't do
that. I need
to know that everything you saw and heard last night will not leave
this room."
Sonny looked at Carly. "Okay."
Carly glared at Sonny. "Everything!"
Sonny got up once again remembering why he didn't like Carly. She
never knew when to quit. He looked at her and raised his voice a
little. " Nothing that went on last night leaves this room. I
won't
tell anyone."
Carly nodded finally satisfied that he wouldn't tell anyone. She
still didn't trust him but what choice did she have. Carly got up
and
was about to leave when there was a knock on the door.
Sonny sighed and went and answered it. In front of him stood Hannah.
Sonny smiled and opened the door wider. "Hey, how was camping
with
Roy?"
Hannah came in, she had been about to knock on Sonny's apartment
door
when she heard him promise someone that everything that went on last
night wouldn't leave this room. She'd half expected him to
have some
girl in here with him and was shocked when she saw Carly. Carly had
to be here to see Jason, but then who had Sonny been talking to?
"It
was good LuLu is adorable. How were things here?"
Carly glanced nervously at Sonny. " Jason was in a car accident
last
night."
Hannah sat down across from Carly. "Oh my God, is he okay?"
Sonny nodded. " It was touch and go for a while, but they think
he'll
be all right."
Hannah sighed with relief. "Thank God, that must have been so
scary
for you guys."
Carly didn't say anything she just stared past Hannah then she
made
her excuses and left.
Hannah felt even more confused. If Carly wasn't here to see Jason
what was she doing here and just exactly what had gone on last night?
