A silver and purple knot adorns her shoulder, intertwined with a ribbon of brown, all the signs of a Xanadu Weyr Brownrider.
Warm riding furs of the
softest materials hug R'ana's body,
accenting her curving hips and flowing
lines. Boots cover her feet- pliant
working boots that bear the scuffs of
hard use. Rich loam
spills over barrel chest and wide
shoulders, before clouding to chestnut
at his underbelly. Glinting cobalt
talons tip attenuated limbs, limber to
accent his laconic demeanor, yet hinting
at the strength hidden within. A forest
of black walnut flourishes upon his
slender spine, plaited between the
knobbed neckridges that scale upward
along his tapered neck. Deep brown tones
also lurk 'neath the proud, masculine
tilt of chin where paler notes scatter
across his velvety hide in a unique
composition all his own. Cream powder fluffs
over the tubby body of this roly-poly
blue, subtle azure streaking like shards
of ice from a glacier. His usually limp,
stubby, sapphire-colored wings imply his
unwillingness to use them, unless, of
course, he is in dire need- meaning,
only to fill his hefty stomach, or to
satisfy his insatiable curiosity. His
loquacity can be seen in his
ever-searching whirling eyes, and in his
strong claws, perfect for perching and
instituting a discussion. One
day Tahl, a newly proclaimed Journeyman,
ran an errand for the Vinter Hall to
Harper and met Gadria. They met that
night, and after a few short hours of
knowing each other, Gadria left the
Harper Hall to Handfast Tahl. As soon
as he was able, Tahl took he and his
wife to Telgar to help produce the
finest beer on Pern, even if wine was,
is, and always shall be the favored
drink. Within a year of residency at
Telgar, Gadria bore twins, Ronar, and
Ranra. With strikingly similar
features of red hair, green eyes, and
uncontrollable freckles, the two were
always attached, even when Ronar
accidentally tripped with a knife and
made a deep gouge in the palm of Ranra’s
hand. This hardly hindered her, and now
only a small scar remains. Ran grew
to love music, while Ron was deft with
the visual arts, it seemed he could do
anything with his hands. Gadria taught
Ranra everything she knew about
instruments and the sounds of music in
general. Although usually alone, Ranra
loved the company of her brother and
mother. Though as the years passed,
Tahl became an ever increasingly stingy
man, becoming a little greedier, and a
little colder hearted with every set of
Rukbat. Upon Ranra's 16th birthday, he
agreed and announced that Ranra, by this
time a blossoming woman, would wed an
old, local wealthy holder in exchange
for marks for Tahl. Ranra fought for
months with her father before one night,
sneaking out with a few choice things to
run away to the Harper Hall. She gave a
silent farewell to her mother, who saw
her leaving in the early hours of the
morning, and set out upon the road.
Little did she know that at that minute,
her brother set out upon another road to
the hold where Ranra's doomed betrothed
slept. Early that morning as the
holder was on his way to breakfast,
Ronar stabbed and killed the man Ranra
was to marry, immediately running far
away from Telgar lands. Ranra became a
Harper Apprentice, giving her heart and
soul to the music she loved. She didn't
know for a two sevendays that her
betrothed had been killed. Only then did
she know by tainted gossip. She made
friends and lost them, she even went to
the lengths of insanity because of her
devotion to music (among other things).
Depression followed, one of the main
reasons being the departure of a good
friend. Things worsened, when one day
as she was summoned from class to see
her brother Ronar in shackles and
guarded, brought to the Hall to retrieve
her in the trial of her brother in her
betrothed's murder. Ronar was convicted
in Telgar, and sent to a lone island in
the middle of the sea with little food
or water. Ranra knew a few days later
by the special link twins have, that her
brother was dead. She stayed only a few
hours in Telgar after this to collect
supplies and to dye her hair. Black she
colored it, and black it stayed. She
wandered the forests of Telgar, far away
from the holds, hiding from all things,
piecing back her life, bit by bit. A
little under a turn later, a ragamuffin
girl with few tools and a beat up back
pack came to the Harper Hall. Her skin
a little darker, hair tangled and dirty,
she came back to work with her music
again. She cleaned herself up, keeping
the hair black, even though her red
roots showed. She now struggles to fit
back in with the world, to find her
place again and to make the music she
longed for in the isolated woods of
Telgar. Not long after she was
back at Harper Hall, Ranra was searched
by T’on of Xanadu Weyr, one of the few
people she had really grown attached to.
She was whisked off to the Southern
continent to play tricks upon the
unsuspecting greenriders of the weyr.
To her surprise, when it came time for a
hatching, a small brown dragon stumbled
in front of her, and as she reached out
to help him, he spoke to her. Ranra,
my love. My name is Buedath! And
that was that.
I think that song is a lot like R'ana
because the singer is talking to her.
R'ana is really shy of men and love, so
this really talks about her.

History:
Tahl, Ranra's
father, grew up in main Telgar Hold, and
went on at an early age to the Vinter
Hall to be a brewer/vinter. Gadria
lived most of her early life out side
Ruatha, with her family on a small farm
raising runners. Gadria, inspired by the
talents of her grandfather, Belol- a
lesser Harper Master of voice, joined
the Harper Hall at fourteen, working and
studying hard. She loved music, and
tried to learn as many of the various
instruments of Pern as she could.

Theme Song is by Bjork
Five
Years
You think you're denying
me of something
Well, I've got
plenty
You're the one who's missing
out
but you won't notice
Until
after five years
If you'll live that
long
You'll wake up
All
love-less
I dare you
To take
me on
I dare you
To show me your
palms
I'm so bored of cowards
Who say what they want
Then then
can't handle
Can't handle
Love
I dare you
To take me
on
I dare you
To show me your
palms
What's so scary?
Not a
threat in sight
You can't handle,
can't handle Love
