This Movie is possibly the most famous cult movie in existence. It's been around since 1975. It went from the theatres of London, to the big screen, to National and International fame - all within the space of eighteen months. It combines the horror genres of all the classic monsters;(Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, "Men from Space") with an explicit sexual theme that has something for everyone....

The Breakfast Club, in a nutshell is about five really different kids who've come to school on a Saturday to serve an all day detention. As the movie trailer says: "They only met once, but it changed their lives forever."
This movie has it all. Great insightful moments, great comedic moments, great quotes, a great soundtrack, and great acting, with Judd Nelson as John Bender, Molly Ringwald as Claire, Ally Sheedy as Allison, Emilio Estevez as Andrew, Anthony Michael Hall as Brian Johnson and Paul Gleason as Mr. Vernon.
It's the kind of movie that if you've seen it, thinking about it makes you want to watch it again. This is a must rent for those of you who don't know the movie.
Captain Tractor is an energetic, loud, fast-paced Celtic rock band out of my hometown, Edmonton. They started out originally as a sextet,(insert your own pathetic joke here.) with:They had Released two albums, "Land" and "East of Edson" when they lost their only female member, Aimée Hill in late 1996, to her pursuit of an acting career. Brock took over playing the flute. Soon after the release of their third album, "Bought the Farm" they lost their Bass Player, Jeff Smook, who left a hole filled by Jon Nordstrom.
They've toured New Zealand and Europe as well as all over Canada & the States and have developed a loyal following wherever they go. while in Europe they Recorded a fourth album consisting mostly of their most popular songs off the three albums, re-recorded, plus another unrealeased track. it was made available to the fan club members until recently when it was released for sale among the general public. I hear they're working on a new album, but no word as to it's title. It wouldn't surprise me, though. these guys never seem to slow down, and there are several new songs they've been playing on stage that are brand new to me. Check out the Captain Tractor Website, to find out more about them, and to find out when and where they'll be touring. I promise you, you'll see me there!
In the Summer of '97 My Dad and I found this little campsite off the David Thompson Highway by the North Sasketchewan River, which is the water you're looking out over... this was no provincial campground either, that's pure, unaldultrated nature there, and only one among Millions of great scenery in those parts. Damn, I love my mountains!
My Best Friend hooked me on Sarah back in her "Solace" days and, though it irks me a little to see a bunch of fickle fans loving her after "Surfacing', it's nice to see her get the credit she deserves. It's scary though, that so many of these new fans are still unaware of "Fumbling Towards Exctacy" generally held as her best album... if you're a recent fan, or not yet a fan, have a listen to Fumbling, Because Surfacing isn't the first great album Sarah's put out.
Have a look and a listen at The Official Sarah McLachlan Site It's got all the info you need.
Tori's more popular down in the states right now, but it's not hard to find fans up here. Not in my circles, anyway. She basically a little anger, a little insight and emotion, and a lot of amazing talent. usually Sarah fans like her as well.
Ani is an acquired taste, but her lyrics are as real and hard-hiting as Tori's, and she's got a soul that shines through in her songs. The real authority on Ani is my friend Alexis Hillyard who introduced me to Ani's music. Lex has an Ani-esque groove in her singing voice, it's easy to tell her influence. I'm a newer fan, and have a lot of catching up to do. Ani has her own label; Righteous Babe records, and has put out 12 or 13 albums. She's possibly the most honest and real artist I ever listened to, The Ani DiFranco Homepage has a lot of great info, and I encourage you to read the letter she wrote to Ms. Magazine while you're there. everything I read about Ani gives me greater respect for her.
