A Different Kind of Futurity

(Special note: Although this race has functioned for the past four years, as of Dec. 12, 2003, no decision has been made on whether this race will be flown again in 2004. Keep checking this site for an official announcement.)

The 2003 edition is now history. 67 birds from 15 lofts were shipped on Friday, October 10, 2003, and the race was flown on October 11 from Bowling Green, KY. Winners of the five capital prizes are as follows.

1st - AU 03 FDY 1052 - Breeder Fred Gohlke, Handler Dan Horner
2nd - AU 03 FDY 839 - Breeder Don Stewart, Handler Dick Counts
3rd - AU 03 FRE 505 - Breeder Jim Lee, Handler Don Stewart
4th - AU 03 SPO 698 - Breeder Steve Lawler, Handler Matt Barnhart
5th - IF 03 PHX 8512 - Breeder Bob Tauscher, Handler Bill Stewart


Two $1000 Prizes
Plus another $1000 split among 3rd-5th.

· Entry fee – 4 birds for $100.00 – No limit on number of birds entered. A $25.00 reservation fee is needed to save your perches, $75.00 balance due when birds are shipped. A maximum of 240 birds will be accepted!

· SORRY, BUT NO BIRDS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM eND QUARANTINED AREAS.

· Birds will be accepted February 1st thru June 1, 2003. · No back-up birds. Replacements are accepted until June 15, 2003.

· Race station – New 300 mile station, Bowling Green, KY - Surveys approximately 290 to 335 miles.

· Date: October 11, 2003. Rain date Oct. 12.

· 1 bird may be placed in a loft of your choice – other 3 must go into rotation.

· All birds become property of handlers.

· Handlers may not handle their own birds.

· New for this year: 5 capital prizes instead of 4.

· $1,000.00 paid to breeder of 1st place bird at first two clocking lofts. No cuts. $500 to breeder of 1st bird at 3rd clocking loft and $250 each to 1st bird at 4th and 5th clocking lofts.

· Pooling – Belgium 10 to 1 & WTA – 15% retained for operating expenses.

· Non-pigeon flyers may also participate in this futurity as long as they provide racing homers. You can buy young birds or have a pigeon racer breed them for you.
