I was
very surprised to get the phone call from Triage Entertainment on a Thursday
afternoon concerning their show Scariest Places on Earth. After an
audition that included doing 3 separate phone readings for producers, I
was quite honored to be offered the opportunity to come to the abandoned
Mansfield Reformatory for a filming of their show.
Myself,
the crew and a former prisoner toured the abandoned facilities of the haunted
ancient prison. Built in 1886, it is a true castle within America.
Although the energies within the stone cold walls leave much to be desired,
one cannot help but be in awe of the formal architecture.
Just walking
in to the facility took my breath with the intensive energy. So many
memories wanting to be shared, including some earth bound spirits wishing
to be noticed. Many times when spirits come upon me, they impress with a great
deal of intensity. This is their desire to connect once more,
and their ability to identify a "tuner", a psychic, a
medium.
We traveled
well within the prison with 10+ hours of filming (with awesome director
Gabe Torres). From the cells themselves (yes...it was VERY scary)
to the depths of the dungeons. Including seeing the "sweat box" that
will forever remain in my mind's eye.
The longer
we remained the more the spirits wanted to communicate. Several in
the dungeon area cried out that we not forget them. Many appeared
to be dressed in military uniforms, and several were dressed in depression
era clothing. "Don't forget to tell our
story.." they would say.
I promised I would mention them to you all, so take a moment and remember
those men who, for whatever reason, died in those prison walls.
I
remember many many spirits in the dungeon like area beneath the
prison. The spirits spoke of many men being listed as escapees
or dying of natural causes, only to be tortured by sadistic
captors. Some were in clothing that appeared from other times,
turn of the century times. Very unique and very very frightened
spirits. Many times people do not realize that these
"ghosts" are often frightened to move on to the light, to
let go of their earthly reigns and move forward into the Light.
It is our job as Ghost Hunters, to offer them release if they ask for
it. Many times they just want a willing ear to hear their
stories. For others, they want to know they were forgiven for
acts committed here on earth. Some are so afraid of judgement
from the other side, that they would rather stay in this limbo like
essence than face what they feel awaits them.
Many of
the earth bounds were reminded they were deceased and with the help of the Angels were escorted to the
Light and released from their holding place
within the prison.
Several, however, desired to remain. Many times
Spirits decide to hold on to a place in time, to bookmark their memory.
Those spirits still remain in the Mansfield Reformatory.
So, if you go
to visit remember to understand that there are still those with stories
there. Listen intently as they will whisper their secrets to you...just
as they did to me.
To this day
the prison preservation society holds tour of the abandoned prison.
I highly suggest you tour the facility if you have the opportunity.
There is nothing there to harm you, but you will certainly feel the ghosts
of old reminding you to remember them. It was even mentioned on the Travel
