The series needs no introduction. Everyone should know who Mario is. He's that plumber who got sucked down a drainpipe & wound up in the Mushroom Kingdom
Bowser kidnaps the princess in order to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. It's Mario's job to stop him!
Mario: Mario was sucked down the drain while fixing a clogged bathtub(according to the show) he & his brother, Luigi, wound up stranded in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Mario has been one of the greatest game heroes since his first hit on the NES(SMB). Mario will always be around & will be known that he's more recognizable than anyone else on earth! Real or make believe!
Luigi: As Mario's lesser known brother, Luigi seems to stay out of danger's way. However, Luigi is more agile & a better jumper. That was proven in Mario2(US). True, Mario is better at using his jump as an attack(mario RPG), but Luigi can jump higher & much farther
Princess Toadstool: Always getting kidnapped by Bowser. It's a nice plot that never gets old because Bowser always does something new in the plot. Princess possesses magic that can destroy black magic & can float.
Toad: The main Mushroom Retainer. Toad is a helper, he gives hints & special items. I personally think he's the best driver of them all(Mario Kart)
Yoshi: Good old hungry Yoshi. What would Mario World be without him? Yoshi is always hungry. Bowser's troops taste good, low in cholesterol, & high in nutrients! Yoshi gains powers by eating different colored shells & watermellons.
Bowser: King of the Koopa. Bowser won't stop till he takes over! It's been proven in MarioRPG that Bowser is really not such a bad guy. He has a smaller soft gentle personality that wants to jump out. Deep in side, Bowser wants to do the right thing, but as he says, "I have an image to protect"

N: SMB was outstanding when I first played it. It's just that today's games are more fun, but SMB still stands as one of the greatest games ever made! SMB is also overlooked by the other Mario titles

In Mario2, pick Luigi or Toad
In Mario3, when you have Raccoon or Tanooki, jump on several enemies at least 10 consecutive times without touching the ground & earn 1-ups. This also works in SMW
In Mario64, the camera is your friend, experiment with it
In Mario Kart(both) use either Toad, Ysohi, Princess, or Mario
