Call Name

"Silver"

Silver was whelped on May 8, 1992. She is "Bi Blue", a bluish gray and white, which is one of the least commonly known color combination of Shelties. Due to the fact that most people seldom see shelties of this color combination, she gets attention wherever she goes. "Bi Blues" can only be bred to "Tri" or "Bi Black" colored shelties. Remember, tri colored means black, white and tan and bi black means black and white. Silver can throw bi blue and bi black pups when bred to a bi black, and when bred to a tri she can throw blue merle, bi blue, bi black, and tri pups. If one were to breed two "blue" dogs to one another, the results could be disasterous with the pups being born blind, deaf, or both and in some cases without eyes at all. If a blue sheltie and a sable sheltie are bred, the color combination is considered a sable merle and the color is not acceptable for any purpose other than for a pet.

If you are not a breeder of dogs, it may seem odd to say, but Silver is our most productive brood bitch. What this means is that she is not shown and besides being a wonderful family pet she gives us the best puppies. Silver does not have the natural tip of her ears and as a young female she injured her mouth so she cannot be shown. She has nice eyes, sturdy bone and a gentle dispostion. She is an excellent mother and has successfully whelped as many as 6 pups and a time. She is loyal and intelligent, and often times keeps the other dogs in line.

Silver stands at about 14 inches, meeting the height requirements for shelties and her size makes her ideal to breed with both smaller and larger males. Silver is the dam or mother of both Memory Fifth Symphony in Tri and Memory Inkadinkado Itsa Blue. They are both from the same litter. Please keep this in mind as you view those dogs so that you may gain an understanding of how the colors of the dogs vary. If you really have an understanding of the color combinations, you may be able to figure out what color male was used in the breeding of Beethoven and Bruiser!

Silver is bred once a year and we expect to breed her again in the fall of 1999. Puppies will be available from this breeding and will sell for $300.00 and up.
