You wander off the path into the undergrowth, curious about what you might find here. If you had any expectations, what you see is definitely not what you had in mind.

A beautifully patterned creature is sitting in front of a small pond, absently sucking on what appears to be a candy cane--much like a baby will suck on a pacifier--and staring into a mirror.

Well, it's not quite a mirror. It's an oval-shaped pool that's been tipped on its end, but for some reason the water isn't spilling out onto the ground. Images are darting across the screen, and upon closer inspection, you realize that it's an old John Wayne movie.

"Ullo," the creature says, gaze flicking towards you before she turns her attention back to the enchanted TV. You step into the clearing, a little wary, but the creature pays you no heed.

You're thirsty, so you move over to the pond, gazing into the crystal clear water and smiling a bit. You can see pure white sand at the bottom, maybe down about 20 feet or so, and caverns disappearing underground and out of your sight. You scoop a little of the water out of the pond and raise it to your lips.

Almost immediately afterwards you spit it back out, gagging and wiping your tongue off on your sleeve. Saltwater!

"SHHH! Do you mind?" You look over your shoulder and the creature is glaring at you. You meekly apologize for interrupting her show and turn back to your reflection with a sigh. To your surprise, it's not your reflection you see, but two more equine creatures leaping through the water and giggling girlishly at you.

"Well, wouldya lookit here, sissy! It's a VISITOR!" yelps the first, patterned in dark green blue. Only... you don't really hear her say it. You just know that she did.

"We do get those, sometimes," the second calmly--and still silently--replies, slipping underwater and moving closer to you. She lifts her head gracefully up a mere few feet from your hands, muzzle tilted as she regards you curiously.

"What is it?" the first asks, giving another leap to arrive closer to her sister.

"I--I'm a human," you hurriedly supply for them, half-grinning.

"Human!" the second announces, nodding her head. "I see. We get those, sometimes, too. There was one back here the other sevenday."

The first headbutts her lime green sister playfully, giving the mare a tug on her ear. "Whassits name?" You're quick to supply that information, as well, and the calmer one smiles.

"Well met! I'm Moss Keeper, and this is my sister, Sea Breeze. We're not quite old enough to get our full names yet," she explains, the words floating through your thoughts in pleasant tones. Her smile broadens.

"That spell-bound creature is Shebergarde, a c'bana mare. She was fostered here on a Christmas recommendation from the noble lady Pega, and Sarnah is thrilled to have her. So much so that she enchanted a vision pool to receive.. what do you call them.. channels? from your homeland and begifted it to her." She seems a little amused at this. "Sheb is a very active young mare but when she's not out tormenting males she's sitting in front of the pool, feeding off of candy. Sarnah spoils her, I think." Sea Breeze grows bored with this telepathic communication and suddenly dives back underwater, disappearing into one of the caverns that you noticed earlier. Moss watches her, lifts one shoulder in a shrug, and smirks in your direction.

"Don't worry about it. She's constantly vying for my attention with any other being that crosses our paths. We're twins, an extremely rare thing in Akailei A'Siirsa, and she's terribly attached to me. I think a good Seak would help settle her spirits. Personally, that Lake Reflection looks like a nice fellow." Moss grins wickedly, gives you a wink, and slides back underwater.

"Have a nice journey!" she calls, the thoughts weak as she moves further away from you.

You look back at Shebergarde, who is doing a rather fantastic job of pretending that you don't exist, and decide that you'd best go back to the path.
