Lame Eagle's Pigeon Loft

After talking with one of the nicest guys on the web, Frank Mosca, and studying his fantastic page on Pigeon Genetics I have been able to modify these pages from my first uneducated descriptions. I've also studied the wonderful pictures on Ron Huntley's page to make a few of my determinations.
Thanks Guys!

Cpl. Claig - Homer, male. Ash-Red bar with heavy grizzle. A double dose of grizzle will tend to make a mostly white bird.

J.L Seagull - Homer?, female. She is bronze with a lot of splashing (pied markings). I'm not real sure how the bronze genetics works yet.

Browny - Roller, female. A Recessive Red with badge markings (one gene of baldhead) and white flights and some tail feathers. She has been mistaken for an Ash Red Velvet (or T-Pattern). But she has a couple solid red tail feathers to disprove this.

Pinky - Homer, male. Ash-red heavy check. He is also carrying one gene of blue/black pigment, determinded by the black flecking in his tail.

Penelopy - ??, female. Blue bar with very heavy splashing. Could be many different pied genes working here.

Elvis - Homer, male. A Recessive White, judging only by his black eyes. If he were an albino, he'd have red eyes. Or maybe he's got alot of pied and grizzle? Only thru his kids will I be able to tell.

Lyle - Roller?, male. Recessive White (see Elvis) And a curiosity, (this is how I tell him from the other all white) he carries his wings under his tail. This is possibly some roller trait.

Major - Roller, male. Spread Black with badge markings, white flights and tail. I have a feeling this little guy is gonna put on a great show.

Stardust - Roller?, female. Dirty Black (Smokey or Sooty) with grizzle and grouse legs. Shes a good mom, see the peep?

Jimmy - Roller?, male. Dirty Black with one white flight and slippers (feathers on his legs and down the middle toe).

New Birds

- Hippy Chick and I took a road trip up to Lima, Oh. to Tom and Matt Barnhart's loft and purchased these next four beautiful birds.

Mookie - Modena-cross, male. Yellow "argent" marked. Basicly a dilute recessive red with toy stencil. He has grouse legs and his tail does not stick up in the air, unlike pure Modenas. He does retain the stockiness tho.

Click to see another view Boyd - Starling, male. Blue check, carrying brown and bar. He has Toy Stencil. (click the picture to see his "flash") It's also possible he is carrying crest.

Click to see another view Indy - Homer, female. A brown check carrying bar, with indigo, badge, white flights, and chest frill. Everything I've read on the web says indigo brown is kinda "yucky". I think this bird is very pretty, not to mention from good racing stock.

Moca - Starling-cross, female. She is a blue velvet (or T-Pattern) with some bronze on the wing bars. She is thought to be carrying toy stencil and/or possibly indigo.

Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum - pair of Yellow Fantails given to me by my friend James, from China.

Here is a pair of young spangled ice nest mates from Jenny in TX.
