- “So,
I guess there are a lot of questions you are going to have to
answer for me when we get home.” She said, he
- stood behind her so she didn’t
see him flinch at the sound of that. Of her belief in
the lie he was telling her.
- “Yeah,
I know. I think we should take a nap first though you look tired.”
He said softly as she got into the
- car and he shut the door and
rounded it to get into the back seat with her.
- “Alright.”
She said and he smiled at her as Jonathan drove them to
his house.
-
- “Christina
where are you?” Beth said, this was the tenth time she
had called today it was almost two in the
- afternoon. “Call me.”
She said hanging up the phone and giving Lance a worried
look.
- “Still
nothing?” He asked, his green eyes showing his concern
just as much as his wife’s hazel gaze.
- “Nothing.”
She said. “I want to go over there.” She said
and he nodded.
- “Let
me get dressed.” He said, he had just finished swimming
a few laps in their pool.
- “Hurry.”
She said and he nodded as he darted up the stairs to dress.
He was back within ten minutes and
- already going out to the garage
to pull the car around to the front porch.
- “I
am sure there is a reason.” He said, he was trying to
console his wife but it wasn’t working too well he
- ran a nervous hand through
his blonde hair and let out a sigh.
- “I
just hope it is a good one.” She said and he nodded that
he agreed the rest of the drive was a silent one,
- Beth mulled over her worries.
- They
had arrived and saw from first glance nothing was out of the
ordinary, but they couldn’t be sure so they
- went up to the door. The
bell rang and there was silence, she pressed the bell again
and heard some rushed
- footsteps and then the lock
sliding free and then they stood face to face with Marvin.
- “Marvin,
have you been here all day?” She asked.
- “I
just got here what do you want?” He asked.
- “Where
is Christina?” She asked.
- “She
went on a little trip, I don’t believe she said when or if she
was coming back.” He said calmly. He
- was too collected for her
liking but that was all she was going to get out of him, it
was then she noticed some of her
- friend’s stuff had been thrown
away in the trash bin infront of the house. She quickly
persuaded Lance to get a
- disposable camera and document
the fact that her stuff had been thrown out, now she was really
worried over her
- friend.
- “I
don’t like the sound of a little trip, and she didn’t say when
she would be back how out of character is
- that for her Lancey.” She
said.
- “I
know, I changed tapes just after she called to say she was on
her way over last night so we still have her
- message. “What do we
do now?” He asked.
- “Unfortunately
we have no proof she is missing, her boyfriend has said she
is out of town so the cops will go
- on that.” She said.
- “What
do you want to do?” He asked.
- “Go
report her missing anyway.” She finally admitted.
- “Alright,
why don’t we go home and get that tape and the player and get
this film developed before we do
- that. We have to have
some kind of evidence to support our theory.” He said.
- “I
guess you are right.” She said and he nodded and turned
the car towards home, he was trying to use his
- wits as much as possible but
when it came to his wife’s worries he always accomodated them.
- “I’ll
go in here and drop the film off we go home and get the tape
and player and then they should be done
- by the time we get back.”
He said and she nodded.
- “Grab
some pictures of her too.” She said and he nodded just
before running in to drop off the film at the
- one hour photo stop.
-
- “This
is a wonderful home, I am so sorry I don’t remember it!” She
said as she walked through the house
- with him on her heels to make
sure she didn’t fall.
- “Everything
will come back to you, if you give it time. Come on let’s
go lay down for a few hours.” He said
- and she nodded and followed
him almost too eargerly he thought.
- “Oh
I am thirsty.” She said almost at the top of the steps
right in front of him, he had put his hand at the
- small of her back letting
her know where he was at all times and his hand slid down to
rest on her jean covered
- buttocks and he almost pulled
away had she not smiled at him, slowly he stepped up one step
and repositioned his
- hand and guided her to his
bedroom.
- “I’ll
go get you some juice, I’ll be right back.” He said rushing
out of the room, he stopped just inside the
- kitchen door and did a handcheck
and he gasped at how hard he was just by touching her butt.
He had to calm
- down if he laid beside her
in the state he was in he wouldn’t be able to control himself,
he took enough time to get
- himself to soften again and
took her a glass of juice. “Here you are.” He said
smiling at her as he handed her the
- juice, which she almost downed.
- “Thank
you, so do we sleep naked?” She asked.
- “Well,
not usually. Remember you just moved so we are still getting
used to everything.” He said, oiy he
- thought.
- “Where
are my clothes?” She asked and he pointed to the dresser,
and the second drawer down.
- “Second
down.” He said and she nodded as she stood to look inside,
he went out of the room again and to
- the bathroom to relieve himself.
- “Where
are the rest of my clothes like my shirts and pants?” She
asked, her voice loud and confident as she
- pulled out something
to nap in.
- “What
is in the drawer?” He asked, his left hand propped against
the wall behind the toilet as he leaned
- over it.
- “Personal
items.” She said and pulled off the t-shirt as she pulled
on the outfit she had picked out to sleep
- in.
- “I
think we put them in the closet or another drawer.” He
said, taking his time he zipped himself and
- allowed her to have time to
dress for a nap, praying Jonathan and Kris hadn’t played any
practical jokes on him this
- time.
- “What
are you going to wear to sleep in?” She asked, sifting
through a drawer full of boxers and sweats.
- “My
jeans, I’ll be fine with the button undone and my shirt off.”
He said walking back into the room and
- stopping short, he was going
to kill his brother. She stood there infront of him in
a slinky white lace trimmed slip
- dress that stopped mid thigh
with a split on both sides to almost the top of her hip bone.
He could see the evidence
- of matching panties through
the split on the left hip, and a celtic knotwork
- tatoo on her hip, yes his
brother was going to die for this.
- “Something
wrong?” She asked smiling as she turned and headed for
the bed, she had noticed that she kept
- a neat drawer where as his
was as if a hurricane had run through it.
- “No,
no I just didn’t know you had something like that.” He
said smiling, he dared not do another hand
- check because he knew what
he would find.
- “I
am glad that it had that reaction on you, you know I am
not too hurt if you want to.” She said softly as
- she snuggled into the bed.
- “Why
don’t we wait until your memory returns sweetie, I mean we have
waited this long.” He said.
- “How
long have we been together Jordan?” She asked.
- “Off
and on, we have had our rough spot for the last six months.”
He said, he hated lying.
- “And
we have never, you know had it?” She asked, she couldn’t
remember anything but she had a feeling
- that wasn’t like her.
- “No,
we havn’t. I have had a few bad relationships and well
decided it best to not put lust before love.” He
- said and she smiled as he
slid under the coverd beside her and pulled her into the bend
of his body, just holding her.
- “That
is very respectable of you, thank you for being honest.” She
said, it cut into him like a knife and he
- closed his eyes to blink back
the truth that must be there, he bit back his reply as he heard
her even breathing of
- sleep. He was asleep
too in no time.
-
- “Oh,
oh Jonathan!” Kris said for like the umpteenth time as
she sat at the computer checking her email, he
- rolled his eyes and checked
his watch and wrote down the time of the contraction. They
were still erratic but they
- were getting closer together,
he figured they had atleast the rest of the night at home.
- “That
was seven minutes from the last one.” He said.
- “Mmm
that was it?” She said, flipping through her mail.
- “Yes
dear, oh Jordan is here you finally get to meet her.” He
said looking out the window and seeing
- Jordan pull in.
- “Ohh
goody.” She said getting up, and he motioned for her to
sit again. “Yes dear.” She said but she did
- move to the living room love
seat she didn’t want this girls first impression of her to be
a computer brat.
- “Hey,
I hear someone is trying to come tonight.” Jordan said
bending to kiss her on the cheek as Christina
- entered the house, she was
still searching for something to trigger something for her memory
it had already been two
- months without even the slightest
of a spark. He had seen a missing poster just outside
of his work the other day
- and he was getting ready to
tear it down and bring it to her attention, he didn’t want to
lie to her any more. But
- would this help her or just
make her mad at him without the results, he couldn’t let his
aphrodite from the sea get
- mad at him so he decided to
just call the number and find out more identifying facts about
her that could help.
- “Yes,
Kris you remember Christina don’t you?” Jonathan asked.
- “Yes,
havn’t brought her around too much Jordan but remember her just
the same.” She said.
- “Sorry
bout that.” He said grabbing Jonathan by the arm and usherring
him into the kitchen.
- “What
the hell were you guys thinking?” Jordan said as soon
as they were alone.
- “What?”
Jonathan asked.
- “She
picked that white one with the splits up to the top of the hips
that first day, the red one that night. Oh
- how can I forget that one
that shows more skin than the purple it is supposed to be, the
other white one with the
- feathers, the pink one, the
green one, the blue one, shall I go on?” He asked.
- “Well,
you were, are asking us to help you keep your relationship as
a truth.” He said, raising an eyebrow.
- “We had to have some kind
of payback.” He said laughing at his brother’s expression.
“And your reaction just
- keeps paying and paying right
now!” Jonathan said and Jordan scoffed in discuss.
- “Just
wait until we leave before you tell Kris about your satisfactory
results.” Jordan said, leaving the
- kitchen quickly.
- “Honey,
is there anything to drink I am parched.” Christina said
softly and he nodded and returned to the
- kitchen, Jonathan was practically
laying on the floor rolling from laughter, he walked past him
and got her a pop then
- walked out of the kitchen
again. He handed it to her and sat down beside her and
smiled at Kris.
- “Oh,
Jonathan another one!” She said, knowing that it had been
well over ten minutes and it hadn’t been as
- intense as the last one again
she had experienced false labor.
- “Alright,
so this is braxton hickes again.” Jonathan said
- “Unfortunately,
do you think they will induce me soon?” She said and he
nodded, her due date had been
- “Yeah,
but we’ll see at the doctors tomorrow huh.” He said smiling....
-
- “Hello?”
Beth said for the millionth time as she answered the phone
again.
- “Yeah,
hello.” He said softly, he sounded hesitant to her.
- “Can
I help you?” She asked.
- “Yeah,
my name is Jordan and I think I may have found your missing
friend.” He said.
- “What
does she look like?” Beth said.
- “Five-six,
size ten jeans, dark hair, blue eyes, smooth skin.” He
began.
- “Any
identifying marks?” She said.
- “She
has a small circle of celtic knotwork on her left hip.” He
said.
- “Oh
god! Is she with you?” She asked.
- “Yes,
she is swimming right now in my pool.” He said.
- “How
long has she been with you?” She asked.
- “Uhm,
since the day she dissapeared.” He said.
- “What
the hell, why?” She asked.
- “Can
I explain that when we get to your place?” He asked, it
had been almost eight months he had taken
- almost six more months to
get the nerve to call and let his princess go.
- “I
suppose.” She said, she was glad he had called now because
they would have been in their florida
- residence in a week.
- “The
address on the paper is correct?” He asked.
- “Yes,
and I want her here today!” She said and he actually agreed.
- “We
will be there, just do me a favor don’t scream at me I just
found this poster last night and she doesn’t
- remember anything.” He
said.
- “Well
we’ll get your whole story when you get here.” She said,
a little aggravated at him.
- “Fine.”
He said.
- “Bye.”
She said then turned to where Lance was sitting and she
smiled at him and nodded to his silent
- question.
-
- “Jordan?”
Christina asked , she was dripping wet standing just inside
the door in her towell, he had tried to
- keep it a platonic situation
but she had caught him off guard a couple of months ago and
they had made love.
- “Christina.”
He said.
- “Who
was that?” She asked.
- “Another
friend of yours.” He said.
- “Who?”
She asked.
- “I
don’t know her name.” He said trying to tuck the poster
in his pocket.
- “What’s
that?” She asked.
- “What’s
what?” He countered as she crossed the room and reached
behind his back and snagged it out of
- his hand.
- “Missing?”
She said, she looked at the picture, it was her but she
wasn’t missing she was with her boyfriend
- wasn’t she? She thought.
- “Can
I explain?” He said.
- “I
have had enough of your lies.” She said, running up the
steps to their room. She was crying by the time
- she threw herself on the bed,
she had given her body to a total stranger! She sat up
about ten minutes later and
- looked around the room, at
the memories they had forged together, the picture of them smiling
and happy on his
- yacht last week. Then
she thought of the thing she hadn’t told him yet wanting it
to be a surprise, but now she was in
- shock and didn’t know what
to do about it. She got up and grabbed a bag from the
closet and started stuffing all of
- her clothes into it, he had
no use for them. She was still crying when she picked
up the small picture album she had
- persuaded him to buy for her
copy of every picture they took together, she stuffed it into
the bag as well.
- “I’m
sorry.” He said softly when she came back down the steps
fully dressed and packed.
- “Please
take me to my friends house.” She said and he nodded,
this was going to be hard for him to just
- walk away and let her go,
he had fallen in love with her. Unfortunately for his
heart.
- “Alright.”
He said, getting up and escorting her out of the house.
They didn’t get very far when a large, blue
- cadillac drove by the house
firing at them, he pulled her down behind his car and after
they had kept driving he
- ushered her into the car and
sped away from the house.
- “Ahh,
oh my god!” She screamed when a bullet broke through the
back window and caught him in the right
- shoulder.
- “Which
way?” He said he needed her to drive but they wouldn’t
be able to switch now with the cadillac
- behind them.
- “Oh
god how did Marvin find me?” She said, it was then her
memory slammed back into her head at full
- tilt, then the realization
of how much danger she was really in.
- ~
‘I’m leaving Marvin!’ She stated to his face haughtily
he was so controlling and finally she had gotten the
- nerve to leave him.
- ‘You’ll
regret that descision.’ He said grabbing her by the arm
and pulling her to face him.
- ‘Let
go of me!’ She said and he did and she had run out the
front door of their home.
- ‘Bitch!’
He screamed after her as he followed, he was three times
larger than she was and he grabbed her
- up and tossed her over his
shoulder and forcefully hauled her back into the house. ‘Joey!’
He said into the cellular
- as he carried her kicking
and screaming to their den and after tying her hand and foot
tossed her onto the leather
- couch.
- ‘What
now?’ Joey said his baby blue eyes flashing at the sounds
in his cousin’s home.
- ‘No
one is leaving Marvin Cousiano.’ He yelled at Christina
as she tried to wriggle out of her bonds, it was
- then he nailed her on the
side of the head with his gun. She remembered nothing
else except waking up in the
- hospital with Jordan at her
side.~
- “Talk
to me here.” Jordan said, he was sucking up the pain as
his shoulder bled.
- “My
ex-boyfriend, turn left!” She said and he did, they
were going the wrong way up a one way street
- thankfully no one else was
coming, she knew this end of town Marvin had shown her most
of the in’s and outs. She
- heard the train whistle blow
as they approached the tracks so she put her foot over his and
pressed the gas as hard
- as she could. The car
bulked then picked up speed and they blew through the gates
just before the train began
- crossing the intersection,
it was the three o’clock train and would be about two
miles long and take well over ten
- minutes so she directed him
into a parking lot and ran around the car and shoved him to
the passenger side as she
- took the wheel.
- “You
almost killed us!” He said.
- “Would
you rather catch a bullet in your head?” She said as she
drove, she turned and used the back way
- to Beth’s house and with any
luck could persuade her friend to get the hell out of dodge
and get everyone to safety.
- “Not
really.” He said, he was leaning against the door frame
and she reached over and locked the door so
- he wouldn’t fall out.
- “Are
you bleeding badly?” She asked.
- “I
can’t tell.” He said.
- “Are
you getting weak?” She asked, they were almost there.
- “A
little.” He said, looking in the mirror on the side of
the car.
- “We’re
here, Kev is here too!” She said.
- “Kev?”
He asked.
- “Beth’s
brother, he is a doctor.” She said and he nodded as they
sped into the driveway and she braked
- hard and almost sent him flying
into the front window.
- “Christina!”
Beth said happily running out of the house.
- “Get
Kev!” She said, pointing to the passenger seat.
- “Lord
what happened?” She asked.
- “I’ll
explain later he needs help.” She said and Kev was already
running to the car to help.
- “Beth
dear get my med bag out of my trunk, no wait shit this is a
lot of blood the med kit!” He said already
- hauling the half unconscious
Jordan out of the passenger side of the car.
- “Can
someone move his car into the garage?” Christina said
and Beth nodded that she would because her
- friend looked too shaken,
and after she moved the car and closed the garage door she entered
through the door in
- the garage.
- “How
is he?” She asked her brother as Christina hovered around
the pulled blinds at the window looking
- out every minute or so.
- “Lucky!”
Kev said, his patient had passed out but had not lost
near as much blood as he had origionally
- thought.
- “He’s
going to be fine?” Christina asked finally sitting down
on the edge of the couch next to where
- Jordan’s legs were.
- “Yeah,
lots of rest and some nurishment and he definately can’t be
moved for twenty four hours!” Kev said,
- he was a doctor at the local
trauma center and received a lot of cases like this.
- “That’s
a problem!” Christina said adamantly.
- “You
aren’t going any gosh darn where until you tell us what the
hell happened!” Beth said hands on her
- hips.
- “I
was going to leave Marvin, he tried to kill me I guess I washed
up or Jordan saw me because he was
- with me when I woke up. He
didn’t know what to do with me I couldn’t remember anything
so he took me in and
- lied to me telling me we were
seeing each other!” She paused.
- “You
mean he lied to you to get you in bed?” Beth said.
- “No,
no nothing like that! He was a gentleman, the most he
ever did was kiss my check and hold me at
