Materials:

Size 30 thread (or size 10)
Size 7 steel hook (use size 5 steel hook to ch 51, then switch to size 7)
3/8" ribbon

Ch 51, sc in second st from hook and each st across, ch 1, sc again in same end stitch and next four sts (you will be making the literal edge of the bookmark), ch 3, sl st in last sc made (picot made), * sc in next 3 sc, picot - repeat from * across ending with 3 sc in last 3 sts - ch 1, sc in same space, ch 3 (you will now be doing the first fow for ribbon).

Row 1: Dc in each sc across, ch 3, turn.

Row 2: (Crossed dc) sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, dc in skipped dc across, make an extra dc in the last st, ch 3, turn.

Row 3: Dc in each dc across.

Row 4: Sc in each dc across.

Row 5: Make picots across to correspond to opposite side.

NOTES: When I made the size 10 thread with a 7 hook, I should have used a 5 to do the starting chain - I didn't so - the bookmark curves - the size 7 hook made a dc around a 3/8 inch ribbon compatible. I couldn't figure out how to weave the ribbon through such small spaces, SO I crocheted AROUND the ribbon - the trick is to be sure that the ribbon is in front or behind the hook AND thread (I guess that isn't AROUND - but I can't figure out the proper word if there IS one word to describe what I did.)
