"CAT AND MOUSE"

August 28, 1997

Ray went to Paul Morgan and told him that he suspected Donna of carrying on with Senator Dowling. Morgan said it would take more than that to get him custody.

Charlie asked Jenna where Ray was, and Jenna said she didn't know. Jenna said she didn't know and it really wasn't any of her business anyway. The next morning, Jenna became very upset when she burnt Charlie's eggs. Charlie said don't worry, I'll just have a big lunch at school. This wasn't satisfactory for Jenna, who then shoved a glass of orange juice at Charlie so she could get her Vitamin C. Charlie said she really didn't want any orange juice. Jenna, now completely teetering on the edge of sanity, demanded that she see Charlie's homework. Charlie told Jenna to just admit that she missed Ray and left for school. Jenna then cried aloud that she did, in fact, miss Ray. (If only John Waters had remembered Priscilla Presley when he directed "Serial Mom"! But then, it's hard to remember Priscilla Presley, period, especially after scenes like this.)

Cliff presented Pam with her $6 million, courtesy of Jeremy Wendell. Cliff then managed to get Pam to leak that the brothers Ewing were interested in buying MacArthur Mining). Cliff then met with Jeremy for lunch and told him what Pam had told him. Although it wasn't really a lunch, as Jeremy told him to leave as soon as Cliff spilled the beans *before* the menus arrived. Jeremy then phoned April and told her to ask J.R. about MacArthur Mining.

Sue Ellen returned to Southfork the next day with no memory of anything which happened after her cup of coffee in the cafe. Everyone thought she fell off the wagon again. That afternoon, J.R. received a package with no return address. Enclosed inside were several pictures...of Sue Ellen naked and asleep in bed, with Calhoun seated next to her in a bathrobe. Paperclipped to the photos was a note saying "Wondering where your wife was last night?".

Cliff awoke the next morning to find a strange woman in his room cooking him breakfast (no, not Jenna, though she was a strange woman who was cooking breakfast). She told him she wasn't sure if she should move in, which they'd been talking about last night, though Cliff has no memory of such a thing (no, not B.D. Calhoun, either). She said she wasn't sure because he kept talking about Pam and how badly he treated her. He said yes, she was and he did treat her badly. And so, the strange woman left, leaving Cliff musing about how badly he had treated Pam. I don't know what the point of this scene was, but I included it because I figured that because it *seemed* like it was pointless, it was obviously very important.

Bobby confronted J.R. again, and J.R. told him everything. Bobby took the pictures of Sue Ellen and had them blown up, and noticed the name of the hotel embroidered into the pillow. J.R. showed the pictures to Sue Ellen, who became very frightened and wouldn't leave Southfork, and didn't even know whether or not she'd been raped. She eventually remembered his name--Peter Duncan. J.R. and Bobby checked the hotel and found that there was a Peter Duncan staying there. Fully armed, they burst into the room, but only found a videotape of Calhoun saying that J.R. was a much more admirable opponent than he thought--and now it was time for him to die...
