"NIGHT VISITOR"

August 27, 1997

J.R. awoke at one in the morning due to the obnoxiously loud ticking from the bomb by his bed. He turned on the lights and found that the bomb was a dummy, and the word "Boom" was painted in red on his door. J.R. checked all of the rooms, leading to Sue Ellen's comment the next morning at breakfast--"You came into my room. I got so excited by the idea I went right back to sleep." (Sue Ellen - 1; J.R. - 0) He became very paranoid, intent on updating Southfork's security system and even bought a gun. He also had Harry McSween distribute photos of Calhoun to the police. Bobby confronted J.R. about his strange behavior, but was interrupted. Under the guise of being J.R.'s old friend, Peter Duncan, Calhoun met with Sue Ellen at a cafe, where he slipped a drug into her coffee. Sue Ellen passed out and Calhoun carried her away.

Paul Morgan told Ray that if he wanted custody, he would have to prove Donna to be an unfit mother, an idea which didn't exactly appeal to Ray (mainly due to its impossibility). Morgan also told Ray that it couldn't look like he was having any affairs with other women (translation--drop Jenna). That evening, Jenna and Charlie came over for dinner. Charlie went out riding, and just after Jenna got all wishy-washy and thanked Ray for being her best friend, he told her that they couldn't see each other very much anymore, especially at his house. "All we both ever wanted was a house and a family," Ray mused. "Maybe we just married the wrong people."

Jeremy Wendell told Cliff that unless he wanted some wells to start closing down, he'd better start pumping Pam for information, and Cliff couldn't argue. Pam, meanwhile, was happy to find Bobby and Christopher in the indoor pool at Southfork late at night. Okay--either it was an indoor pool or the Ewings like decorating their patio with really poorly painted backdrops against which the fake-looking trees cast a very big shadow. But then again, with Miss Ellie's taste in clothes, you never know...

Senator Dowling has been trying to get Donna to go out with him to dinner, and almost had her when he suggested going up to Maryland and doing something with crabs which I didn't really understand. She resisted and had dinner with Dave, where she began experiencing severe pains. But seeing as everything has to be opposite the Dream Season, Donna did *not* have a miscarriage. Ray visited her in the hospital and brought flowers. While he was there, Dowling popped in and gave her a stuffed elephant and cheesy old campaign ads. ("Everyone always brings flowers," he commented.) It made for a very awkward moment.

April brought her showers down upon J.R., who arrived at her hotel for dinner only to find her in bed. She rationalized that they'd both spend the entire evening thinking about what was coming, they might as well get it out of the way, which prompted no argument from J.R.
