This is the index of my family surnames. And a reference page with links to help with your quest. I am kin to John Quincy Adams, William Bradford , that was governor of Plymouth, and Richard Church who designed Plymouth. This was about 1608. John Quincy Adams was President of the United States living 1735-1826. I know from history our forefathers worked very hard to establish the new country. All were just human and did what they thought was best for our country. Witout them we mwould not be here today. Why not keep a good record while we can.
My grandma Bertha Caskey told stories of pulling in a filling station when I was almost too young to remember. But while filling the car up with petrol (gas), car pulled up beside us. My grandpa told everyone not to look at the people in the car. They did as was told. They were "Bonnie & Clyde". I know every family has stories an it's nice to read them, but we have to put it down on pen and paper while we can.
My grandma also told a story of meeting her cousins at a family gathering in southern Texas. One of the cousins was Tex Ritter, and how John Ritter was also kin to our family. I am sure in many families there are great stories as well as sad stories of our heritages. I wasn't proud of the story of my ggrandpa Allison Jeffcoat. In Beaumont,Texas he shot and killed his daughter's husband. It was in the newspapers at that time. I have clippings of the story.
I will tell of more stories as time goes on. I like remembering the old times and looking at my family files that have gotten so big I can't take it all in anymore. I just started out like everyone else, remembering family stories told by our relatives and how they dissapear from your mind if not written down and how they slip away with time as our loved ones pass. Then too one day we will pass. Where will our family files fall into hands of? Will they want to know, or value the secrets the pages carry with them.
We need to value the precious moments we live and jot them done for our children to remember and maybe keep up with our family tree's. Try to talk with relatives before the time is up. Take care of family photos and ask questions. Be interested in your ancestry and take pride in keeping good records.
