Richard Buffington's friend from England who came in 1677 to join Richard in Pennsylvania in opening a tannery to make leather. There were both young tanners in England but broke and came with the hope of making their fortune here. Both did very well with the business. John went on to become active in the Pennsylvania politics but died kind of young. Richard married John's widow Frances Vane Grubb..comment by Douglas Carroll Buffington.
Richard Sr. signed the Delaware constitution in 1775. He stayed there a couple of years because that is where the boat landed and Penn had not yet subdivided land in Pennsylvania for resale. In 1777, John Grubb landed in Chester county, Pennsylvania which is where Richard went to join him to establish the tannery. They both remained there for the remainder of their lives..comment by Douglas Carroll Buffington
This page wouldn't be possible without the help of Sarah and Paul Bourdeaux, daughter Cassie, Russell Jordan, Douglas Buffington (Clyde's brother Roscoe's Son) and all the family members that sent me emails, messages, photographs, and put up with my questions. And I thank them all. I will be continously researching and compiling files dedicated to keeping Clyde Buffington's memories alive. Any information you would like to add, fell free to contact me.
