on a stout, erect, woolly stem

with small yellow, red, purple, or brownish red flowers
The fruit grows from the central column as a pod
Tea from the leaves soothes the mucuous membranes,
helps bladder, kidney, & liver disorders
helps nervous conditions,
& used as an astringent
Leaves smoked like tobacco help to relieve lung congestion
leaves also burned as an incense to relieve lung problems
Oil from the flowers used as eardrops, wart remover, & relief of chapped skin, bruises & sprains
Tea from the flowers is used externally to treat hemorrhoids, tumors, ulcers, muscle tenderness, & throat swelling
Also thought to have antibiotic properties
