#10 Super Mario Bros. 3

Release Date: 1990
Developer: Nintendo
Genre: Adventure
Platform: Nintendo
My Rating: 9.7

Who hasn't played this game? Ok maybe if you're under the age of 10 and this game was before your time. Or you aren't a gamer, but in that case why are you reading this? The rest of us know what a classic it is. Even by today's standards, you can still experience the fun and enjoyment that comes from playing this game. There's a reason Mario is more recognized worldwide than Mickey Mouse, and this is it.

#9 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Release Date: 1997
Developer: Konami
Genre: Adventure
Platform: Playstation
My Rating: 9.7

What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets? That is the question posed by Dracula in the greatest installment of the Castlevania series. You assume the role of Alucard, the bastard child of Dracula and a human woman. What made this Castlevania so great was the amount of exploration, adopted "Metroid style" gameplay, musical score and RPG elements such as leveling and equipping various weapons/armor.

#8 Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

Release Date: 2001
Developer: Konami
Genre: Adventure
Platform: Playstation 2
My Rating: 9.8

Snake? SNNAAAKE!!! Actually to many gamers dismay, you did not play as Snake much, and instead for the majority of the game, assumed the role of a whiney effeminate named Raiden. It still kicked ass though, and gave gamers a chance to look at Snake from a different perspective.

#7 Metal Gear Solid

Release Date: 1998
Developer: Konami
Genre: Adventure
Platform: Playstation
My Rating: 9.8

Best story in gaming history. Period. Players would control Solid Snake, who is the epitome of badass. Think of James Bond, John Rambo, and Snake Plissken all blended into one. The game also had some of the best villians ever, who all had interesting and deep back stories. A remake for the Gamecube was made, which featured even more awesome cutscenes.

#6 Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Release Date: 1992
Developer: Nintendo
Genre: Adventure
Platform: Super Nintendo
My Rating: 9.8

Many people are familiar with the Zelda series, and many would agree this is one of the best. It included a vast world which you could explore at your leisure, plus many great dungeon designs and a terrific musical score. For a real challenge, try completing the game without dying, with only 3 hearts and no upgrades. I still have yet to do it...
