The Old Home Place
(the old Watson Family farm)
A common sight in West Virginia today, many an old farm house or building is falling apart with age.
(Credit's for this picture unknown, all others by different members of the Watson family).
This
web page is dedicated to the memory of all those family members, neighbors and
friends who shared a bit of common history with the old Watson Family home
place. My Father, Charles has been bringing us, his children down to the old
home place (: which is located in Wirt County,
just a few miles outside of Elizabeth in West Virginia, ) since the
beginnings of our days. So the farm and West Va. will always be a part of our
life's no matter were we are today.
What used to be a common sight in rural areas, especial on the sides of old barns and farm buildings on the sides of roads. This Mail Pouch Tobacco sign is on display in the State Capital (in West Va.)
Another common sight in the rural areas, and not just West Va.
The first picture is of a younger David Watson, Taken in 1947. In the background is the old house. The two pictures is of Dad and two of his brothers. And the one below is of Grandmother (Anna) and Grandfather (David) Watson, taken in 1968.
The first picture was taken during the summer of 2004 (: Dad and his two brothers doing a little shooting at the old farm), the middle one is of Aunt Blanche and her daughter Mary Ann in 2004, and one on the right is of Uncle Don and Charles having a little chat at a family get together at Aunt Blanches place, summer 2002.
Town hall, Elizabeth, West Va.
A little get together at Aunt Blaches, Summer of 2004.
This is a new venture, so it will
most likely change fairly often. There is only a very small hand full of family
members shown. Constructive feedback is welcome.
