The Rules of Tennis

In order to play tennis, you need to know the rules. When you start out you decide who will serve and who will receive. For every point you get two serves. If neither of the two serves you go into the opposite box, the opponent wins the point. If the serve hits the net and goes in it is called a “let” which means you do the serve over. The scoring of tennis is very strange. The server’s score is always first. 1 point is 15, 2 points 30, 3 points 40, and 4 points you win the game. So if it is 30-15 the server has 2 points and the reciever1. However, when both players have 3 points or 40-40 it is called deuce. Winning 2 points from this stage gives you the game,. When one point is won it is called advantage and that player’s name. To win a set you need to win 6 games. However, you need to win by 2, so it is possible to win 7-5. When it is 6-6 you play a first to 7 tiebreak, win by 2. Most matches play 2 out of 3 sets to win, but some are 3 out of 5. Now, you know the basic rules There are some more advanced rules, however. First, when you are serving you mjust not step over the baseline, or the serve is automatically a fault. Also, you may never touch the net or hit the ball on the opponent’s side. If there is a distraction, one player may call a “let” and do the point over. My Home Page
