A Silk Road Timeline
This website is a very informative site which provides chronological history of the Silk Road. It provides very concise but important events from 3000 B.C. to the 20th Century relating to the Silk Road. Important individuals and historical events which effected Silk Road are highlighted. For example, Zhang Qian, Buddhism, development of the silk farms in Europe in the 6th Century and other European events are mentioned. It even talked about NASA's advanced technological snapshot of the ruins of the Silk Road from space in the 20th Century. This is a “must visit” website for a superb summary of the development and decline of the Silk Road.
Silk Road, Arts at Dunhuan - "China the Beautiful"
This website has great maps of the various routes of the Silk Road. The first map which highlights the four routes is in Chinese. However, an English translation is provided below the map which explains the four routes from Dunhuang City to different parts of Europe and Mideast. In addition, it also provides an English map of Northern China. Another interesting feature is this website gives a link to the current weather of the city of Dunhuang which is fascinating since we could compare the weather condition to ours.

There is so much information here that each religion has to be divided into 10 different sections, each with a vast amount of detailed text. There are also many, many links to lots of different sites at the bottom of the Buddhism/Confucius page. This website should be of interest to visitors of this site because it contains a vast library of information on the history, beliefs, and influence of these two religions. Even though it is about the eastern religions, it focuses more on Buddhism and Confucianism and less on other religions.
