The Celebration Continues with the Parishs
150th Anniversary Cocktail Party
The Parishs 150th Anniversary
celebration continued on Saturday, February 7, 2009
when more than 200 parishioners of Saint Ignatius
Loyola gathered together for a Cocktail Party in the
beautifully decorated Monsignor Tarrant auditorium
for an evening of music, food, and conversation.
The atmosphere was festive as those in attendance
enjoyed an assortment of hors doeuvres and
beverages that were served by an entertaining group
of parishioners who made sure that everyone was
having a good time. Beautiful storyboard posters
that depicted the rich history of Saint Ignatius
Loyola Parish were displayed around the room which
surfaced many fond memories of life within the
Parish over the years.
Town of Oyster Bay
Councilwoman Rose Walker and State Assemblyman Rob
Walker were in attendance to present Monsignor
Donald Bennett with several citations commemorating
the Parishs continual proclamation of the Good News
of the teachings of Christ Jesus to the people of
Hicksville and beyond for the past 150 years.
Governor David Paterson and Nassau County Executive
Tom Suozzi also sent congratulatory letters. A
Parish Anniversary poem (which can be viewed on the
Parishs 150th Anniversary link on this
website), written by longtime parishioner Dan
Berrell, was also presented to Monsignor Bennett.
After the awards ceremony, the fun continued with
dancing and singing. Everyone truly had a wonderful
time!
The parishioners of Saint Ignatius Loyola Parish in
Hicksville are fervent in their faith, and generous
with their time, talent, and treasure. We truly are
a welcoming group of people, united together in
Christ Jesus, who are blessed to be part of such a
faith-filled community! It is this spirit of faith
and generosity that will keep Saint Ignatius Loyola
Parish alive for another 150 years!
