SSP: Can you start off by introducing and giving us a little background on yourself?
Serena: Hi, my name is Serena Lauren...I'm 20 years old and from Sacramento, CA. I am attending college right now at Stanford University, but I will be finished this December..Even though I am still in college, I have been pursuing music for a few years!
SSP: Are you working on anything for your fans at the moment?
Serena: Well, I recently had two photo shoots to get some new pictures to help with a
site redesign and in designing the cover to the album that I start recording this month!
SSP: What do you think of the shows American Idol and American Juniors?
Serena: I have never heard of American Juniors..I watched one episode of American Idol..the final episode where Kelly Clarkson beat out Justin Guarini, so I'm not sure what I think of that show..I really like Kelly Clarkson though..her singing is awesome..and her songs are good too!
SSP: Do you think that highschool theatre is a good way to get used to singing on-stage with people watching or are there other ways to get used to that?
Serena: Sure, high school music theater is probably a great way..I never did that myself, but I did some regular theater though...If you belong to a church and can help lead music sometimes for a youth group or the larger congregation, thats also great way (that's how I got used to it :)).
SSP: Do you play any instruments?
Serena: Yes! I have played the piano since I was 9 and the guitar for 2 years.
SSP: Which do you like more, recording or performing live?
Serena: I like both the same..I really love songwriting though too..and the first few
performances of a new song are the best!
SSP: Is there any celebrities you're crushing on in particular at the moment?
Serena: Ha ha...not really...I am crushing on a non-celebrity right now :).
SSP: Do you ever get recognized out in public by fans?
Serena: No, not really....There is this cafe where I hang out at a lot, and play open
mic there frequently, and people there might know me as "the girl who does open mic sometimes," but other than that, not really!
SSP: Do you have a favorite artist, cd, etc.?
Serena: I really love Shakira, Howie Day, Jason Mraz, The New Radicals, Switchfoot, The All American Rejects...and lots of others!
SSP: What advice would you give to your fans or people who wish to perform like you, or what advice has helped you?
Serena: Keep writing, practicing and performing because sometimes strong desire to do
something is a sign of future and not neccesarily current talent.
SSP: Thanks so much!
Serena: Thank you!
