Credit to theundergroundscene.net SSP: Hello Mike!
Mike: Hello!

SSP: Can you start off by um, telling us about yourself and giving a lil background info?
Mike: My name is Mike and I play base with Hopesfall. I'm a...a relatively new member. I've been playing with them since last October. I roadied with them for about 3 months and um then I joined. And since..since then I've been like full time.

SSP: Who do you look up to musically?
Mike: Musically? Umm...my personal taste is different from the band's. As for the band, Hum, and a band called Shiner, umm Failure, Smashing Pumpkins, the bands with full melodic sounds.

SSP: Oh cool..haha..What song like really gets the crowd going and up and..yeah?
Mike: Ha! Umm I would say the song "The End of An Era". We usually play is last or close to last. It gets a really good response. Also..."April Left with Silence" is always good. And my personal favorite one to play is "Dana Walker".

SSP: Ohh yeah, Dana Walker is on your most recent cd right?
Mike: Yeah!

SSP: Where has been your favorite place that you perform?
Mike: Playing The World in New York City was neat. It was like in front of 1500 people. It was exciting! We felt like we were big time. And Worchester, Mass.. And California is also great, everywhere there, especially Orange County.

SSP: Like the movie haha! This is a question that will work for you ..Um how has your family (hehe) and friends reacted to everything that you have done and gone through with the band?
Mike: Um..my family is very supportive and excited that I get to go to so many places and meet all kinds of people. My friends are happy for me, too. Cause it's not like a traditional job, I'm not using any of my highschool education haha.

SSP: Okay can you like, tell us a little bit about the uh..the other guys in the band?
Mike: Sure, uh Jay sings. Josh plays the guitar. Adam plays the drums. Chad played guitar the last year but he recently left.

SSP: Aww! How did you get involved with the band?
Mike: That's a good question! Not many interviews ask that. I met Jay and Josh my freshman year of college. I was walking through student union..and I gotta remember what I said to them..but I asked them if they new were all the shows were played around here, because I was new to Charlotte. That was when Hopesfall was first starting out and actually Jay wasn't in it yet. But I stayed with them throughout college. And I roadied with them for a couple months. Then they needed a bass player, so I just jumped in.

SSP: Did you take bass lessons before, cause I didn't even know you played the bass *laughs* until the band?
Mike: Actually I took lessons when I was 13 or 14 and I played a little bit in High school. When I joined the band I had like 2 days to learn the songs. Because the tour was going to start in 2 days, so basically I just learned about 5 or 6 of their songs in 2 days.

SSP: Geez! What's it like touring?
Mike: Well, every band is different touring with. We do everything ourselves. We drive ourselves. We have a 15 person van and a trailer. So basically it's a buncha smelly guys piled all over each other and eating shit food! It's a fun tour if the other bands are fun! Because you're on the road for a long time and you become one big family! And the long drive sucks, but we get to see some really neat places!

SSP: Do you get to meet alot of your fans and supporters?
Mike: Um yeah, some. Some kids are shy,, but alot of them come up to talk. And we want them to come up. So we meet alot. And sometimes I can't remember all of them, it's like they go to one show and meet us and then another again and are like "Hey we met you in Detriot..." but it's nothing personal if we don't remember them it's just so many people that we see. And we do remember some! But it's really fun hanging out with fans, because when bands are big yet, they're just normal people too, who like to hang out and meet new friends.

SSP: Cool. What would you like to say to your fans, and those who come to show after show all around the place to see you?
Mike: Uh Thanks! Thanks for the dedication to those kids who come to out to every show! We're thankful that people care. We just love traveling and seeing everyone, so thanks!

SSP: Thanks, Mike!
Mike: No problem, no problem, anytime! I'll see if I can get one with the whole band next time!
SSP: Thanks! :-)
