Name: D.J. Brown

Birthdate: September 27, 1954

Instrument(s) Played: Acoustic and electric guitar, mandola, pedal steel, lap steel, banjo, fiddle, harp, resonator, vocals and more

Roots: Started as a trumpet player while in high school, but my brother's influence helped me to realize that guitars were cooler (that was back in '69)

Professional experience: I've played with a number of bands all over town and have done solo gigs also. I've played in Nashville with The Julie Dunlap Band and opened for some of the biggest artists in the business.

Influences: The guitar players that had the biggest influence on me were Jimmy Page, Johnny Winter and John McLaughlin.

Gear: I've got so much gear it would fill a warehouse! My main axe is a 1988 Fender Strat which I play through a variety of Fender amps depending on the size of the room we're playing. I primarily use "Boss Effects" which are wired together on a custom built pedal board. I also play through a wireless setup, so I can play out in the audience if I want to.

Name: Steve Lauth

Birthdate: March 31, 1957

Instrument(s) Played: Acoustic guitar, lead vocals

Professional experience: I started playing guitar when I was about 16 years old, and the first time I played and sang in front of an audience was on a dare at a talent show while I was in the US Air Force. I did "Taxi" by Harry Chapin and took first place. I have played many solo gigs for years and have been a member of a variety of local bands such as Shades and S.O.S.

Influences: C,S,N,Y and James Taylor. Anyone that plays from their heart. I also enjoy listening to crossover country. Almost anything as long as it's good!

Gear: Not a lot of stuff, because I mostly sing and do a lot of songwriting. I own a Dean Acoustic/electric, a Guild D-35 and an antique "Rickman" amp.

Name: John "J.C." Carella

Birthdate: December 23, 1953

Instrument(s) played: Drums, percussion

Former member of Shades and newest member of Second Nature. We're still pestering John for his bio!

Equipment: Fibes, Slingerland, Zildjian. We'll nail the rest of it down later. (real important stuff like sticks, heads and hardware. John's the only drummer we've ever seen that uses his own stage mikes.)

Personal: John is our "cheerleader". He keeps encouraging all of us from his kit as well as offstage. All night long we hear "allright" "yeah", etc. John is the guy who keeps reminding us that were suposed to be having fun. A real motivator!!

Name: Gilbert Wayne "Gil" Eller

Birthdate: September 11, 1954

Instrument(s) Played: Acoustic and electric guitar, harp, drums, vocals

Professional Experience: I have been playing for 30+ years participating in bands in high school and college, and the last band before Second Nature was the local band Shades.

Gear: I am presently using a Washburn D10CE Acoustic/Electric Guitar and a Gibson Firebrand "The Paul" Deluxe Electric With a Peavey Special 112 Guitar Amp.

Influences: I have to say that my strongest influence for guitar style came from my father who played primarily 50's & 60's country and country rock. I have mixed this style with influences such as Eric Clapton, Neil Young and vocal harmonizing from groups such as CS&N and the Beatles.

Comments: I basically enjoy playing, I have trouble expressing myself in many ways so music allows me to display creativity that I could not otherwise show.
