A quick comment:      Back to G-1: Review D-V      Teletran-1

This is my first Divebomb/ Predaking Giftset action figure (s).  I bought it on Dec. Xi, Mmiv and it cost me $CLXXV (CXC.IX) from Image Anime.  I had always wanted to own him when I was a pup, now it's becoming a reality.

R-0 Original Divebomb's motto and tech specifications:

Affiliate: decepticons | Subgroup: predacons | Function: aerial assault | Alt. Mode: eagle|

| STR 7 | INTL 8 | SPD 5.5 | ENDN 6 | RNK 5.5 | CRG 8 | FRPW 6 | SKL 6 |

Original G1 Divebomb Motto:

"Conquer the skies and what's below you will fall."

Original G1 Divebomb Bio:

He's like a kid at a candy store - always delighted by all the targets he has to choose from.  Builds mecha-nests atop tall buildings and mountains; composed of late-model sports cars, wings of jets, theater marquees.  Back-mounted rocket thrusters allows speeds of 300 mph, 2000-mile range.  Can see a dime from 10,000 feet.  Has particle-beam rifle with infrared sight, and laser-guided sword.  Magnetism inhibits flying ability.  With fellow Predacons, forms Predaking.

These images were all photographed and scanned by me.  If you're a Transformers fan, this will definitely bring back some reminiscences.

R-1 Divebomb (of Predaking Gift Set) in its Original condition:

predakingorig.jpg (88882 bytes)1 - Divebomb/ Predaking gift set  in its brand new condition from the box.

2 - Back of the box art shows the 1986 Battle Scene Box Art.

3 - Here's how the contents look once the box was removed revealing the contents sandwiched between two clear plastic tray.  And on a separate taped back, that's where you'll find all the paper works.

4 - These are all the contents that were included in the box/ package/ card: " 1" lion, "1" tiger, "1" eagle, "1" buffalo, "1" rhinoceros, "2" Predaking fists, "2" Predaking feet ", "1" Razorclaw gun, "5" swords, "8" guns (or 4 pair), "5" sticker sheets, "6" trading cards, "1" instruction sheet, "1" miscellaneous text sheet, and "1" toy board checklist (Collection/ DW box #0 to #16.  Reissue box #01, C-69, C-78, #16S, #22, C-310, C-77, D-98, NY  #01, D-77.  Binal Tech #01 to #10.  And MP-01).

NOTE-1: The Predaking gift set is the only G1 gift set box to come with a plastic handle (second image next to box) on top of the box and be carried like a suit case.

R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers:

There are 3 Pre-Applied stickers that had been applied onto Divebomb.  The first two are located on either side of the wing.  The last pre-applied sticker is the Decepticon Rub Sign logo which can be found in the underside of the eagle tail.

Divebomb Sticker Sheet:

DecalDivebomb.jpg (55297 bytes)There are 19 registered numbering of stickers on the sticker sheet.  But in reality it's actually 21 stickers since some of the decals/ stickers are grouped or paired together and labeled it as one.  These registered numbering do not include the Pre-applied stickers.

R-3 Divebomb & Predaking Gift set Accessories Closed Up:

predakingweap1.jpg (41475 bytes)predakingweap2.jpg (33953 bytes)One of the great thing about owning a Predaking besides nostalgia is that he come with numerous accessories.  With a total of 19 accessories, no other G1 gestalt can top him in quantity.  Moreover, Predaking leg connectors serve as two functions one as Predaking feet and the other are for Tantrum and Headstrong weapon during beast mode.  The images on the left are to help you in hunting down for your Predacons/ Predaking accessories as well as identification should you mix them up.

NOTE-2: For clarity purpose, the images on R-3 are not into scaled with one another.

R-4 Divebomb in Beast Mode:

divebombbm1.jpg (46211 bytes)In beast mode, Divebomb is an eagle whose measurement is approximately 6 1/12 x 8 6/16 x 2 14/16 (LxWxH) in inch.  When the wing is fully extended out, he spans roughly 11 inch in width.  The eagle mode is very articulated ranging from movable neck to lower jaw or beak to feet.  The wing has two articulation points on either side.  It can only be raised up or down but not backward.  Overall, Divebomb looks good in his eagle mode with no negative drawback.

R-5 Divebomb in Robot Mode:

divebombrob1.jpg (45614 bytes)divebombrob2.jpg (37592 bytes)My only problem with Divebomb robot mode is the tail.  As you can see, the rear view looks as though he's still in his eagle mode.  This minor problem take the attention away from the overall design.  The figure as a whole is very intriguing because it has a nice frontal view and that eagle beak open up to reveal Divebomb face is definitely awesome since it reminds me of the Lion Voltron.

R-6 Divebomb in Attack Mode:

divebombrob3.jpg (39317 bytes)Divebomb comes with 3 weapons consist of a pair of gun and a sword.  In robot mode, the two guns can be stored on either side of his wing to free up his hand when needs to strangle the Autobots neck.  The same can be said for the eagle mode.  As for the sword, other than the hand itself, there is no place to store it.

Transformation Of Difficulty: [Easy]

Material Durability: [A] - Pretty durable

Materials: Die Cast Metal: Pelvis.  Chrome Part: None.  Rubber: N/A.  Plastic: Main material.  Clear Plastic Window: N/A.

Stability: [+B] - Due to the extra wing weight, Divebomb tends to fall backward if the floor surface is not even.

Fun Figure: [A] - Pretty a fun toy.

Negative Drawback - Other than the lack of transformation in robot mode because of the tail as mentioned in R-5, Divebomb has no negative drawback.

Articulations: Head: Cannot be rotated.  Shoulder: Can be swung 180 degree.  With the wing off, he can move a full 360 degree. Arm/ Elbow: Cannot be bent.  Wrist/ Hand: Cannot be rotated, uses slider tab to hide hand. Hip/ Waist: Can be rotated 360 degree sideway. Leg: Can be bent at a 85 degree forward or backward.  Knee: Can be bent at a 180 degree.  Ankle/ Feet: Can be bent and no sideway movement.

Robot's Cartoon looks alike: [B] - He looks pretty much like the cartoon.

Beast Mode's Cartoon looks alike: [A] - Same as previous comment.

Special Notes:  Here are  "4" special notes which I think you should know:

1 - When transforming from eagle to robot mode, don't forget to fold the eagle feet in first otherwise Divebomb lower feet will not be fully extended out.

2 - Always hold Divebomb from the body not the wing to avoid separating part and damaging.

3 - Divebomb wing connection peg isn't so durable and strong, so don't over use it.

4 - The arm, pelvis, and leg make a clicking sound just like G1 Ultra Magnus shoulder when you rotate them, so check to see that your figure is working properly.

Overall Grade: [A] - With the many accessories and the ability to combine with fellow Predacons to form Predaking, this figure is definitely a fun figure to own.
