A quick comment:     Back to Guardians Review Page      Gobots Homepage

This is my first Leader-1 action figure.  As a kid I had always wanted to own him but just didn't have the finance to purchase it.  Now I'm glad to have him as part of my collection.  I got him on Apr. Viii, Mmiv for $XLIII from Ebay

R-0 Leader-1's motto and tech specifications:

| Affiliate: guardians | Subgroup: none | Function: leader | Alt. Mode: jet |

| STR -- | INTL -- | SPD -- | ENDN -- | RNK -- | CRG -- | FRPW -- | SKL -- |

Leader-1's Motto:

Not Applicable.

Leader-1's Bios:

Not Applicable.

Unfortunately the Gobots action figure doesn't come with any motto or tech & spec like the Transformers action figure.

These  images were all photographed and scanned by me.  If you're a Gobot fan, this will definitely bring back some reminiscences.

R-1 Leader-1 in its Original condition:

leader1org.jpg (55020 bytes)1 - Leader-1 in its original condition.

2 - This is the back of the card.

3 - These are all the contents that were included in the box/ package/ card:  "1" jet.

R-2 Pre-Applied Decals/ Stickers:

There are 3 Pre-Applied sticker that had been applied onto Leader-1.  The first two decals are located on either side of his chest.  The last sticker was place on his waist.

Sticker Sheet:

Unlike the Transformers, none of the Gobots action figure come with sticker sheet.

R-3 Leader-1 in Vehicle Mode:

leader1veh.jpg (28235 bytes)In jet mode, Leader-1 measures approximately 4 1/8 x 3 x 1 6/16 (LxWxH in inch).  He comes with 4 landing gears, two in the front and two in the back.  The nosecone itself does not have a landing gear like the Transformers seekers.  To make it more interesting, Leader-1 transformation does not require him to take any of his part off.  This unique transformation makes Leader-1 very superior than the Transformers seekers.  I also like the idea of making a bulge connection underneath his main wing to look like a missile.  Overall, Leader-1 is very beautiful as well as having no major negative drawback in this mode.

R-4 Leader-1 in Robot Mode:

leader1rob.jpg (41727 bytes)Leader-1 looks very much like his cartoon counterpart in robot mode.  The only minor difference is the face.  The cartoon has him with a real mouth while the toy has him with a mouth plate.  But other than this, he seems to match the cartoon perfectly and that included his transformation too.  Again just like his vehicle mode, there is no major negative drawback in robot mode.

R-5 Leader-1's Card Art:

leader1ba.jpg (49129 bytes)Here's a closed up shot image of Leader-1 original card art.  I usually don't include box/card art in my review but because the Gobots card arts are so rare and hardly any website has them, I decided to put into this review.  Unfortunately, almost all the Gobots' card art are cut off due to the bad presentation or arrangement on the card.  It is nearly impossible to find these Gobots Card Arts in any other medium or merchandize as way to get complete drawing since these Gobots arts hardly get produced into other format.  So the only thing we can do as Gobotron fans, is tried to fix these card arts by ourselves.

Transformation Of Difficulty: [Easy]

Material Durability: [-A] - Pretty durable.

Materials: Die Cast Metal:  Front and back of his chest.  Leg is also die cast.  Chrome Part: None.  Rubber: None (Plastic wheel).  Plastic: Main material.  Clear Plastic Window: None.

Stability: [A] - Pretty stable.  Be sure that both of his leg are pull out evenly.

Fun Figure: [B] - It's above average.  Could be a little bit more fun if this toy come with weapon.  But then again, Gobots action figure hardly come with any weapon.

Negative Drawback - None.

Articulations: Head: Cannot be rotated. Shoulder: Can be swung at a 360 degree as well as an upward movement toward the neck. Arm/ Elbow: Cannot be bent. Wrist/ Hand: Cannot be bent.  Hip/ Waist: Cannot be rotated.   Leg: Cannot be bent.   Knee: Cannot be bent.  Ankle/ Feet: Cannot be bent and no sideway movement.

Robot's Cartoon looks alike: [A] - Definitely looks like the cartoon

Vehicle's Cartoon looks alike: [A] - Look even more like the cartoon then the vehicle mode.

Special Notes: Here is "1" special note that I think you should know:

1 - Due to the die cast metal on the upper body and the style of transformation, in time, Leader-1 will suffer the compression leg syndrome.  In other word, Leader-1 leg will shrink down and bury into his feet which will make him look shorter.  If you want to avoid the problem, then leave him in vehicle mode.

Overall Grade: [+A] - Like so many of the other Gobots action figures, Leader-1 also falls into this category whose action figures look even hotter than its cartoon counterpart.  It's a shame that the Gobots action figures are so under rated when compared to the Transformers when in reality these Gobots look a lot better.
