Rebecca Cunningham, Professor of Theater at Brooklyn College, CUNY, is a costume designer, an author, and a watercolorist.

Professor Cunningham's textbook, The Magic Garment, is a widely used text on costume design for undergraduate and graduate students. Her published articles include "Achieving the 20's Silhouette," in the Cutter's Research Journal, and "Russian Women Artists/Designers of the Avant-Garde," an award-winning article in TD&T Journal.

Rebecca's interest in the area of East European women theatrical designers culminated in slide lectures at the annual conference of USITT (United States Institute for Theater Technology) and at the Shep Symposium hosted by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Her travels often center around her costume research and result in articles.

Professor Cunningham has designed Off-Off Broadway, regional and educational theater productions. Her costume designs and watercolor paintings have been exhibited in galleries in New York and Louisiana.

Rebecca holds an MFA in theater design from Brooklyn College, a BFA in advertising art from Louisiana College, and an AAS in apparel design from The Fashion Institute of Technology.
