early september.2000 -- jewel, already a newsie fan, goes looking for a key as a present for a friend of hers. she unwittingly stumbles into a key shop, the employee of which inquires why she would like to buy a key. jewel's mother, to her daughters absolute embarassment, launches into a detailed explanation of the movie newsies and the entire story about jewel's friend and the search for a gift. the ever-helpful employee then remarks "newsies? oh, i know someone who was in that." jewel, of course, absolutely peppers the employee with questions and discovers that the man he knows is david sidoni, aka pie eater. jewel gives the key shop employee her address and the key shop man promises to try to get jewel some autographed pictures of sid.

early april.2001 -- jewel recieves two autographed pictures of david sidoni, courtesy of the man from the key shop. naturally, jewel is estatic and shares her excitement with alley. however, because jewel is a bumlets fan and alley is a kid blink fan, neither are as excited as they might otherwise be. jewel puts the pictures into a random notebook and forgets about them after a few weeks.

04.22.2002 -- coneflower writes a letter to jewel, her pen pal, offering to send her the first season of roundhouse on tape.

06.04.2002 -- jewel recieves a videotape in the mail from coneflower adams containing the first season of roundhouse on tape. unfortunately, jewel is out of town and alley picks up the mail for her. alley, suspecting what's inside the package, struggles for days with the temptation to open somebody else's mail.

06.07.2002 -- alley, successful in fighting off temptation, turns the unopened package over to jewel. jewel puts in the roundhouse tape, and a fan is born.

06.08.2002 -- jewel shows the roundhouse tape to alley. alley, though a little confused at first, due to the poor quality of the tape, picks up on roundhouse right away. another fan is born. alley promptly dumps kid blink as her favorite newsie and adopts dutchy.

06.18.2002 -- alley composes and mails a letter to ivan dudynsky, aka dutchy. see 'letters' for further explanation.

06.19.2002 -- alley and jewel, who have been watching roundhouse daily for the past week, suddenly remember the autographed pictures of david sidoni. jewel thinks she remembers where she put them, but when she checks that place, the pictures are not to be found. a frantic search ensues. jewel and alley tear apart all of jewel's numerous notebooks. still, the autographed photos elude them. at last, alley notices the pictures tucked into the back of a green notebook. the pair stare at the pictures for several minutes. alley wishes she had some, and mentions also wanting pictures of ivan dudynsky. jewel, a loyal bumlets fan, wishes for pictures of dominic lucero. both decide they would like pictures of the entire fab 4, including pictures of mark david. hence, project roundhouse is born. jewel puts the pictures of david sidoni in a safe place and makes a mental note to buy some frames. jewel also stays up until midnight thirty to compose a letter to ivan dudynsky.

06.20.02 -- jewel and alley go project roundhouse crazy. the two uncover contact information for: Gabriel Damon, John Crane, Aaron Lohr, Crystal Lewis, Luke Edwards, Arvie Lowe Jr., Alfred Carr, Seymore Willis Greene, Max Casella, Kevin Stea, and Christian Bale. the pair also e-mail blaze and maddie with regards to pictures of dominic lucero. they send an e-mail to the man from the key shop regarding further contact with david sidoni. they e-mail the owner of a mark david site regarding contact with him. jewel mails her letter to ivan dudynsky.

06.21.2002 -- jewel and alley recieve an e-mail from the man from the key shop. the man says that he'd be happy to contact david sidoni again for them, if they simply write letters and turn them over to him to be mailed. alley composes e-mails to kevin stea and crystal lewis, expressing curiosity as to weather it is really their e-mail addresses or not. jewel recieves an e-mail back from maddie and blaze with positive answers regarding pictures of dominic lucero. alley composes her letter to david sidoni later that evening. also, jewel and alley attempt to call david sidoni, luke edwards, and crystal lewis. they fail on all accounts.

06.23.2002 -- alley recieves and e-mail back from kevin stea with positive information concerning the validity of his e-mail address. he also expresses his willingness to send pictures to alley. alley e-mails kevin with thanks and her address. also, jewel and alley turn letters over to the man from the key shop to be mailed to david sidoni.

06.27.2002 -- this is a thursday. letters to david sidoni go out no later than this day, by way of the man from the key shop.

06.30.2002 -- jewel recieves e-mails back containing positive information concerning pictures of dominic lucero. also included is information concerning contact with mark david, for which alley and jewel are grateful, considering they have no other leads.

07.01.2002 -- jewel recieves her letter to ivan back in the mail. apparantly the address was incorrect. jewel vows to try again and alley wonders what happened to her letter to ivan.

07.02.2002 -- jewel re-adresses her envelope to ivan, sends it back off, and does a search for "tremaine dance conventions". she finds their website, and emails them about ivan. minutes later, her email is returned. frustration abounds.

07.03.2002 -- the project roundhouse site is officially open!

07.05.2002 -- alley gets her letter to ivan back in the mail, return to sender. bitterness.

07.08.2002 -- alley and jewel get together and bake cookies for the man from the key shop, to be delivered that evening. jewel announces that "she comes from a family of big cookies." the cookies are delivered to the man from the key shop successfully. jewel and alley discover that the man is still just as nice as he was last month. and there was much rejoicing. yay.

07.11.2002 -- alley and jewel get together and bake cookies for adge, to be mailed the next day. they also compose a letter to natalie to be enclosed with the cookies. alley also stays up way past her bedtime writing a letter to john crane.

07.12.02 -- jewel mails off the cookies and letter to adge. she also sends off a letter to mrs. lucero and she finally gets out that letter to crystal. *crosses fingers* here's hoping...

07.15.02.-- jewel recieves an email giving some very nice contact information. jewel tries to contact alley, who's out of town, but no reply. frustration abounds.

07.16.02 -- jewel recieves another email with great contact info, including a valid address for Mark David. also talks to adge, who helps to verify the information.

07.29.02 -- jewel and alley are at camp. right before bed, one of the counselors shows up with a suspicious video-shaped package addressed to jewel. alley, suspecting the package contains a roundhouse tape, snatches the package and dashes to jewel's room. alas, jewel is nowhere to be found. alley has no choice but to rant and rave about the injustice of it all to random passersby. after some minutes, jewel finally returns. alley thrusts the package into her hands and it is opened to reveal, yes, a tape containing two episodes of roundhouse. these episodes are ones that jewel and alley already have, but the quality is hopefully so much better. the pair jump around camp in excitement for the next few days.

08.03.02 -- alley arrives home from camp and anxiously sorts through her mail. grrrr...., she has recieved back her letter to John Crane, return to sender. jewel and alley also get together and watch the roundhouse tape. they are floored by the good quality and are excited to at last be able to make out the actors faces. this is definitely a good thing.
08.20.2002 -- alley moves away, thereby cutting off her immediate and lovely connection to fellow project roundhouse-ee, jewel. probably this is the saddest thing ever.
