Elias Traded !

Patrick elias, once thought of to be the backbone of the Philadelphia Flyer's offensive machine has been dealt to Montreal.  "We really had no other choice", Bavoo said.  "Montreal came to us with this deal and I had to pull the trigger.  We gained some youth and hopefully added some more offense.  our scoring and shots on goal have really been low so far this year.  I think this move addresses that issue."

Elias was dealt to Montreal along with under-achieving centerman trevor linden and left-winger Jason weimer.  in return, the flyers received young centermen mike york and eric cole along with  left winger marian gaborik.

"York was a guy we were after.  We need a scoring centerman and I think yorkie will fit in nicely." Bavoo said. "Gaborik was added as an incentive to deal elias and cole adds some youth."

York will center the first line along with gaborik on the left and jeff o'neill on the right.  O'neill had this to say about the move,

"Patty was struggling, that's for sure.  He was moved around in the line-up and just couldn't seem to get himself going.  Maybe he needed a change in scenery.  I wish him the best and I look forward to working with new line mates."

Berezin joins flyers

In yet another move to hopefully spark the offense, GM BAvoo traded goalie prospect Shane Bendera and wing prospect Ryan Bayada to Colorado in exchange for journeyman right winger sergei berezin.

"We had to give up two good prospects for sergei, but I think it was a move we needed to make.  Berezin was never given an opportunity to play in Colorado and I think he deserves a shot." Bavoo said.

Indeed, berezin only played in one match for Colorado and was pointless.  The rest of the time he rode the pine.

"I was not used in Colorado", Berezin explained. "And I was getting frustrated.  I'm happy I was traded to the flyers and I can't wait to get in there and produce."

The flyers have given Brian Savage's spot on the number two line to berezin.

"Brian needed a rest." Bavoo noted. "We now get to have a look at sergei and see how he handles the situation.  It's nice to have two guys competing for the same roster spot.  It fosters competition."

Let's hope so, boss...This team has enough problems as it is.
